Welcome! To the Etsy Aberdeen Christmas Gift Guide Who we are... We are the Aberdeen Etsy Team, an all-volunteer group who organise events for artists, designers, and makers in the Aberdeen area who sell their wares on Etsy. We are supported by Etsy to hold physical events in order to promote local talent. We started our team in 2016 with the aim of creating an accessible and exciting platform for established and emerging makers, and have been hosting markets, workshops and talks regularly ever since.

What is Etsy? Etsy is an online marketplace where makers can sell their creations to buyers across the globe. From handmade home decor to vintage jewellery and everything in-between, people come to Etsy to support small businesses and discover unique, beautiful items.

What can you find in this Gift Guide? Things are a bit different this year! This Gift Guide will be a fun and vibrant alternative to the physical events weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve hosted in the past. The Raffle! It wouldn’t be an Etsy market without our charity fundraising! This year we have decided to raise money for CHAS and Aberdeen SANDS. CHAS (Childrens Hospices Across Scotland) for over twenty years have been providing a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life shortening conditions. Aberdeen SANDS are a stillbirth and neonatal death charity, offering local support to anyone affected by the death of a baby and improving the care bereaved parents receive. These are both incredible charities which do a lot of vital work, and with the COVID-19 pandemic many charities are struggling, which is why we’ve chosen to split our fundraising between these two. All the prizes you see here have been generously donated by our makers.

Inspired by a romantic sense of North, I make embroidered wall mounted and 3D artworks. Science On A Postcard is run by Heidi Gardner, who also works as a Research Scientist at the Health Services Research Unit at the University of Aberdeen. She started the business in 2017 during her PhD, after being told that she ‘didn’t look like a scientist’. Through Science On A Postcard she designs and produces colourful products with a science twist, with the aim of sparking conversations, smashing stereotypes and demonstrating diversity.
