How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? I make recycled aluminum can cottages and miniature wire bonsai trees. I wanted to come up with a name that included both and suddenly "A Cottage in the Forest" came to me.

Why did you start your Etsy shop? I love working in primitive art, especially paleolithic cave art styles, which have a universal appeal. Etsy is the perfect way for my art to be seen all over the world.
This is a reproduction of an 15,000 year old Lascaux cave horse, this colorful, dappled horse’s front legs appear to turn into moons.
The painting measures 11" x 11" (28 x 28 cm) and is signed on the back and has a hanging wire secured on the back to keep up the illusion of this being a piece of ancient art.
I use as closely as I can the same pigments; yellow ochre, red oxide and black manganese, and techniques as the prehistoric artists did, in miniature form. I even hand rub paint in to the horse's stomach and neck for a burnished blend of colors.

How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? Ezme is named after a snake named Esme in the movie Foul Play. In it Goldie Hawn plays a librarian in San Francisco. Where do you make your items? I designed all of the cards and packaging on digital design software and I have the cards and boxes professionally printed before assembling the deck and box by hand at my home studio.
What’s your favorite part of being an Etsy seller? My favorite part about being an Etsy seller is the feeling of validation for being both an artist and an entrepreneur. I would not have brainstormed making a product out of my tarot artwork if I had not already seen how Etsy sellers can create niche products and succeed independently. Floriography Tarot features 78 cards with original collage artwork made with Victorian elements and vintage photographs, some of which are from the artist's collection of old family photos from Cuba and Spain.
The Minor Arcana suits are also represented by botanical symbols—here we see the 10 of Pentacles card, represented by bright yellow sunflowers.

Where do you make your items? I am fortunate to have a home studio, and try to spend time there each day if possible. I have a wheel, a project table and a glaze making and kiln area. During Covid, I've been developing and testing a number of new glazes, which has been challenging and fun.

How Did You Learn Your Art?
I learned the art of making soap by trial and fire and lots of YouTube. I still remember my early attempts and it’s really crazy to see how far it’s come. Over the years I’ve gotten more scientific, investing in tools and lab equipment, learning the science of materials, refining my process and I really like how the artistry and science of it combine, it makes me feel like an alchemist. As I’m developing more advanced skincare for my line, I’m investing in cosmetic chemistry education and consulting with chemists to bring my product ideas to life. I love being an Etsy seller because I like how close knit the community is. It’s fun to share experiences and to know that you’re going through similar things together. Why did you start your Etsy shop? We’re hoping to infuse a little bit of whimsy and playfulness back into sending cards. We want cards to be something for every day and every time you think of a friend (or frenemy), not just reserved for special occasions. Etsy helps us make that possible.

I cut up old bottles and stained glass and melt them into delicate droplets using the concentrated light of the sun. Why did you start your Etsy shop? I have always loved to paint and illustrate. Although initially I only painted for myself, I decided to open Original water color painting of the stone henge
my shop when I changed my career and took up art as a full time job.
How did you come up with the name for your Etsy shop? I can’t take all the credit for the name, my sister gets 50% credit too. I don’t remember exactly but I think I wanted my shop name to be different and about vanity.
