Noticing the rapid shift towards eMobility back in 2008, Steve specialised in recruiting for the electric vehicle sector, forming EVera Recruitment - Europe’s only dedicated battery, EV & Gigafactory recruitment company in 2020. Steve is a skills advisor to the UK Gigafactory industry, ensuring they have the teams in place to deliver state-ofthe-art batteries to the EV and ESS sectors. Ben has been working in the electric vehicle industry for over nine years. Starting at Nissan, when it introduced the Nissan LEAF, he helped fleets and business drivers appreciate the benefits of electric vehicles, including low cost of ownership and impressive acceleration. Ben also worked for BP Pulse and was instrumental in the launch of the UK’s first EV Experience Centre in Milton Keynes. Ben’s role at Mobilize Power Solutions is to ensure everyone has access to electric vehicle ownership and he believes this comes from providing charging stations at key locations. Topic: EV Charging for Fleet Managers Andrew heads up the new subsidiary for Juice Technology AG, a Swiss manufacturer of EV charging products. He has extensive experience in the emobility sector having spent several years delivering EV projects both in the UK and in Europe.

Topic: Advanced surface analytical tools for battery material research Erik has been active in the world of surface science and innovation for 15 years and received his PhD at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden in 2014. In the application development team at Biolin Scientific in Gothenburg, Sweden, Erik is providing technical expertise for the QSense product range to customers, colleagues and collaborators. At Biolin Scientific, Erik is technically responsible for the battery research application area. A topic that is of particular interest for Erik is how the QSense instruments can be used to investigate mass and structural changes in new battery materials during battery cycling and other relevant conditions.

Topic: UKRI Faraday Battery Challenge supporting the UK battery research and innovation ecosystem Dr Jennifer Channell is the Innovation Lead for the Faraday Battery Challenge where she manages the portfolio of business-led collaborative research and development projects, aimed at commercialising better performing propulsion batteries and building the UK battery supply chain. Prior to this, Jennifer was a Senior Portfolio Manager at the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) where she worked with the Faraday Institution to administer the research element of the Faraday Battery Challenge. During this time Jennifer also worked on EPSRC’s electrical and electronic engineering strategy, followed by EPSRC’s decarbonising transport strategy. Jennifer also has experience managing portfolios of fundamental materials research in graphene and functional ceramics at EPSRC. Jennifer did her PhD in Chemistry in Grenoble, France where she used the large scale X-ray and neutron facilities for structural studies.

Topic: Lithium Battery Recycling – An update Alan Colledge is a 3rd term Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor with 27 years of experience in the waste industry. For many years Alan headed up Cawley’s Hazardous Services Department where he dealt with essentially every hazardous waste type during his career. In early 2012 Alan was faced with a new waste type - Automotive Lithium batteries. Initially, the recycling of these batteries in the UK was very difficult due to the lack of metallurgical treatment, so Alan set about establishing relationships with disposal routes in Europe which led to Cawleys having an Authorised Battery Exporter Licence in 2017. At the same time, Alan envisioned that the uptake of hybrid and electric cars was on the rise and eventually there would be a huge demand for an exit route for the batteries that power them. 16

Andy has been instrumental in transforming Coventry & Warwickshire into a centre of electric vehicle and battery production. This includes securing £130m in funding the locate the UK Battery Industrialisation Centre in Coventry, which was opened by the Prime Minister in 2021. Andy leads the team at Coventry City Council as it develops proposals for a West Midlands Gigafactory. This includes working with Government, alongside a range of other key economic partners.

Tony Boswell started in cybersecurity at one of the original UK government cybersecurity Evaluation Facilities in 1987. Tony has been an active participant in numerous international working groups, has written and edited Protection Profiles and UK CPA Security Characteristics, and has contributed to the design, methodology and interpretation of several cybersecurity evaluation schemes. He is currently an Application Engineer in the company’s Commercial Team. In this role he uses his technical expertise to model the performance of Echion's technology at the cell and system level and map competing technologies.
