Human rights AT HOME AND ABROAD

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document drafted by representatives with different legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world. It is used as a common standard of rights for all peoples and all nations.

Some countries don’t allow for freedom of expression the way Ireland does, and there can be harsh consequences for people who stand up for what they believe in. Amnesty International campaign for human rights, they encourage us to write and maybe change a life.

Why not put pen to paper and write for human rights around the world?

ThisisDorgelesseNguessan , a single mother and hairdresser from Cameroon. She was arrested while attending a peaceful protest demanding a better future for her family and her country. Now she has been sentenced to five years in prison.

People travel from all over the world to different countries for a number of different reasons. It may be to escape war, violence, persecution, or simply to look for a better life. Ireland is a multicultural society and we are extremely lucky to get to experience so many different cultures on our little island.

Make yourself heard!

There are marches and demonstrations held all over Ireland to show solidarity and support where it’s needed. There is strength in numbers, so join in and speak out!
