Benefits

This is our core study skills seminar for examination students. Along with motivating students to engage in their study, they are brought through our unique study system –POKER. This tried and tested study methodology is guaranteed to improve student performance. To reinforce the learning after the seminar and to help students organise their study, each student receives a copy of our unique Study Journal.

Differentiation

There are two separate seminars and accompanying Study Journals reflecting the various stages the students are at:

1. Learning and Study Skills for the Junior Cycle 2. Learning and Study Skills for the Senior Cycle.

Content

The Brain and Learning – Students are aware of how their brain works and how to accelerate their learning through whole-brain learning activities.

Growth Mindset and Resilience – Students are made aware of the importance of having a positive approach to their learning and how to develop resilience to better cope with the stress of assessments.

Memory Techniques – Students learn some simple memory techniques to enhance their learning.

Study – Students are introduced to our effective POKER study system, which shows them how to create linear notes and mind maps, along with creating memory pages and flash cards.

Methodology: In-School, Live Webinar and e-Learning Duration:In-School: 2½ hrs | Live Webinar: 2hrs Numbers:Up to 50 students (This may be changed depending on the needs and facilities of the school)
