Eden Prairie High School Girls Lacrosse

BY CAROLINE NAVE

As of early May, the 2023 Girls’ Lacrosse team’s season is of to a great start! Currently, the team has 4 wins and 3 losses. The team has a mix of people - seniors, veterans, returners, and some younger players. The girls are about halfway through their season, and senior Kylie Bamlett says that it’s going well and that “we’re seeing a lot of the younger girls step up and we’re seeing the returners continue to do what they should be doing.” She says that one of the most important parts of being a senior and captain is making sure everyone is seen and heard and “constantly making sure that people are being included, especially the younger girls.” She strives to make the team feel like a family. Head coach Brooke Jones also agrees. She says that she’s seeing “a lot of growth. We’re seeing the girls being able to learn and improve.”

Last year, the girls placed second in the section tournament. By the end of this season, Kylie hopes to “leave a legacy behind and leave something people can remember. It doesn’t have to be the win/loss record but just the environment and our positivity is what matters to me.” Coach Jones wants to see “the team playing as a cohesive unit. We have what it takes for the state tournament.” The team has fve games left in their season before the section tournament, and we wish them the best of luck!
