It’s All About Proportions Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man taught us that when it comes to beauty, certain rules do apply. So if you want to make the most of your God-given gorgeousness, read on.
The Toolally Triangle The Toolally Triangle is the space between our earlobe, shoulder and chin. This shape is created by drawing a line from the earlobe to the shoulder and a line from the earlobe along the side of the face to the collar bone below the chin. The shape of your face and the length of your neck will determine the shape and size of the triangle. The first step to looking great in statement earrings is to make sure the earrings you choose sit within your own Toolally Triangle.
Curves, Angles & Drops The next step is to consider curves and angles. You need to complement rather than mirror your face shape. Round faces are complemented by angular shapes and angular faces by curves. For those of you with perfectly symmetrical oval faces, choose either. If you have a particularly long face and neck, short, wide earrings will create the illusion of a wider face. The final step is length and as long as you remain within the triangle you can choose whatever length you feel comfortable with. As a general rule, if you want to emphasise your mouth, stop halfway down the triangle. To emphasise your eyes, stay near your lobes and for full-on “night on the tiles glamour, go for shoulder skimmers.
