Newsletter Christmas 2016
Seasons Greetings friends and supporters. Without you all we wouldn't have our animals. We wouldn't have the funds to provide them with the life they deserve. Over the years we've been able to give sanctuary to over 5000 animals. Animals who had nowhere else to go, and who have enriched all our lives in their own unique way. Animals like Jacqueline and her newborn calf Josephine. Without our intervention they would have been left in a filthy swamp to die from starvation and infection. Like Perry, a sweet young lamb, thrown over a gate and left unable to walk, left to lie and die in the cold rain.

Like Freda the friendly, loving sow, forced to live on her own in a bog for 8 years with a rusty piece of corrugated iron as shelter, fed on scraps. Freedom and Simon the lambs, both unwanted because of disabilities. Freedom, unable to walk, Simon born blind and brain damaged. Freda Freedom now runs and plays with the rest of them, Simon, a contented, amiable little chap, finds his way around, still loves his bottle, I'm sure if he could speak he'd say he was happy to be alive.

Over the years we've taken in animals from all over the country, all from different circumstances. The common denominator was that their lives had no value, "weren't worth the bother, just get rid of.

I won't go on, we're here to enjoy the privilege of looking after our healthy, happy residents, even those who don't seem to appreciate it much. Basher and Rambo the sheep come to mind, never ones to miss an opportunity to threaten a bit of a beating to anyone they've taken a dislike to. Zombie and Treacle, the once valued Rare Breed Wensleydale sheep who both look as though they've landed on the wrong planet.

Sparkle the little mare whose next journey would have been to the slaughterhouse, who now takes half a day to catch. How ungrateful!

Farm animals are the worst treated animals in the world. They are sentient beings with feelings. You can help us to keep putting this message out by continuing to support us. The world needs to see how these animals react when they live in a safe environment, trusting, intelligent, living side by side in harmony with each other.
Big Barn Appeal Success!! We can look after them, but we can't do it without funds. The Big Barn Appeal has been successful, all thanks to everyone who has donated to this, work is planned to begin at the end of March which will result in 5 star accommodation for our ageing sheep population. We're now in winter, almost all of the animals will have to come into the barns. We need to raise extra money for hay, for extra feed, vitamins, feed blocks, rugs for the older sheep and our two new calves. Please, think of them, please stay with us. We will be thinking of the millions of animals who will not have a New Year to look forward to. jessie

And finally, we can't go without introducing our latest addition. She is Jessie, a four louis month old puppy newly arrived from a rescue organisation in Cyprus, Jodie's Cyprus Dog Rescue. Jessie and her siblings were found in a Council Pound just two days before they were due to be destroyed. We think she's part Meercat, part cuddly toy.
Wishing you all a peaceful, pleasant Christmas.
