THE KWAZULU-NATAL FILM COMMISSION (KZNFC) IS ONCE AGAIN PROUD TO BE PART OF THE LOERIES CREATIVE WEEK, AS THE PLATFORM ASSISTS IN PROPELLING THE COMMISSION’S MANDATE TO DEVELOP THE FILM INDUSTRY AND MARKET THE PROVINCE AS A FILM DESTINATION OF CHOICE AND, MOREOVER, CREATE ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS FOR LOCAL FILMMAKERS TO ENGAGE AND FIND SYNERGIES WITH THE CREATIVES. WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO APPLAUD THE LOERIES TEAM ON THEIR INITIATIVE WHICH SEEKS TO GIVE OPPORTUNITIES TO LOCAL LEARNERS FROM PREVIOUSLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE AND SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT. AS THE KZNFC, WE LOOK FORWARD TO ESTABLISHING A MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL RELATIONSHIP IN ORDER TO GIVE EFFECT TO THE KZN FILM STRATEGY. WE CONSIDER ADVERTISING AGENCIES TO BE THE GURUS IN THIS FIELD, BASED ON THEIR EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO PARTNERSHIPS WHEREBY AGENCIES WILL BE MENTORING AND TRANSFERRING SKILLS TO LOCAL EMERGING FILMMAKERS.
thank you to the enormous team of dedicated people behind the Loeries who make it all come together. Of course we couldn’t do it without any of our partners, particularly major partners Tourism KwaZuluNatal (TKZN), the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, KwaZulu-Natal Province (EDTEA), eThekwini Municipality – Durban Tourism, DStv Media Sales, and Gearhouse Group.
WE AT DSTV SEE THE VALUE IN SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF TALENT AND RECOGNISING GREAT CREATIVE WORK. WE WANT YOU TO CREATE COMMERCIALS THAT CAN LIVE IN THE TV LINEAR WORLD, IN ON-DEMAND VIDEO SPACES AS WELL AS MOBILE AND ONLINE - IN OTHER WORDS EVERYWHERE WHERE DSTV CONTENT IS AVAILABLE. MAKE ADS THAT HAVE ARTISTIC VALUE AND GRAB THE ATTENTION OF THE VIEWERS SO THAT IT FEELS A PART OF THE OVERALL CONTENT EXPERIENCE. MOST OF ALL, MAKE ADS THAT NO ONE WANTS TO SKIP.

SIMONE BOSEMAN Founder and Executive Producer of Molo Sana Films and Loeries Judging Panel for TV & Film Crafts How DO we grow and ensure that there is equal representation in the commercial industry?
Simone Boseman
BROUGHT TO YOU BY
The industry needs to support the ones that are here so that it can serve as a solid example for more to emerge and grow. As the only black female commercial production house, it has been challenging - the industry is slowly but surely showing love.
What was your experience as a judge this week at the Loeries? As a first-timer, it was an interesting and educational experience to judge work from the industry. Something that I wish to do again.
What breeds creativity? Passion for your craft. :)
BIO: After 12 years as an agency television producer, Simone Boseman founded
Molo Sana Films – a production house representing fresh and creative film directors and photographers of colour. The company’s name means ‘hello baby’ in Xhosa and is part of Simone’s way of creating opportunities for transformation in the advertising commercial industry. The company is the only fully black-owned femalerun commercial production house in SA. With a couple of accolades and awards under her belt, Simone advocates for creativity with work that celebrates the African self.
