Fortune News is our bi-annual publication for people who are currently incarcerated, providing a window into the work of Fortune and the issues that impact the lives of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. We strive to include pieces written by currently incarcerated people that inspire and inform, as well as those by advocates and academics committed to criminal legal reform. Each edition includes resources to help justice-involved people navigate life after release or to improve conditions while inside.
In this issue, former NYC Commissioner of the Department of Correction, Vincent Schiraldi, spotlights conditions for justice-involved people on Rikers Island and the gallant efforts by detainees to make change. Rob, a currently incarcerated person in federal prison, outlines his advocacy efforts to expand voting rights. And Fortune’s Deputy CEO, Stanley Richards, discusses what must be done to end the inhumane practice of solitary confinement in our country’s corrections facilities.
