Being a member of Fernie Golf Club gives me limitless golf which makes me happy as it is one of my favourite sports.
It gives me a sense of camaraderie by playing with my friends and making new friends by being a part of ladies and senior clubs. As a member we get a better rate for tournaments. As a member we can book tee times a week in advance. In the restaurant we get a discount on food. In the pro shop we get a discount on golf merchandise (clubs and equipment) as well as clothing. As members we get package deals for range passes, lockers etc. We get a vote at AGM and have input to club operations and electing board members. Patricia Moore
Fernie Golf Club Since 1918
A family trip to the driving range? It may be a surprise, but I see many families, including mine, choosing to spend a couple of hours driving balls, putting, and enjoying a meal at the clubhouse. The Fernie Golf Club is a perfect place to do this with its relaxed environment, friendly staff, and club members that encourage newcomers to the game. My family has found the Fernie Golf Club to be a “community within a community” where everyone likes to say hello and ask about how your game is going. Our son collects golf balls so many members would pass on a colourful ball to add to his collection. The members at the club have a spirit of camaraderie that revolves around the game they love that they share with adults and kids alike. Another outing our family enjoys is to play five holes. This is a great way for kids to get started in the game because it only takes an hour to play the course. Each family member can play from a different tee box that suits their ability which makes it fun for everyone. We learned early on that our son did not like to lose his golf balls in the water (remember his ball collection?), so we always packed water balls that he didn’t mind losing. We learned what our son liked about the game (hitting his 6 iron, scoring, and riding the golf cart) and found ways to make the game fun for him. See you at the course! Christine Stein
Membership at the Fernie Golf Club has been a high priority for me for more than 20 years. There are many financial benefits of membership for those that love the game of golf however, for me it is much more. As I walk the fairways on a warm summer day I often pause to take in the surroundings, and when I do I am overwhelmed by feelings of peace and serenity, followed by a sense of belonging and family. Over the years I have met and played with numerous individuals, some unfortunately are no longer with us, but I carry their memories with me every time I set foot on the course. Membership offers the ability to make new friends and cultivate ongoing friendships developed over the years. Whether they are playing partners, pro shop personnel, grounds maintenance staff or clubhouse staff, I cherish them all and can’t imagine my life without them. I have always loved contributing to the golf community in Fernie, committing 14 years to the board of directors and continuing to help where I can has made me a better person and I am extremely thankful for having the opportunity to be a part of something that is truly amazing. Rod Gray Since I can remember the Fernie Golf Club has been a part of my life and something I look forward to opening every year. I have a lot of great memories from the course and feel lucky that we have such an awesome club in our small town. It’s great to see how the club has evolved and grown over the years and to see the youth programs and incentives they have put in place. The staff at the course are always so welcoming and accommodating. It’s the prefect place to get together with friend for a round or take the kids to hit some balls. For me the Fernie Golf Club is an extra special place as that’s where I met my wife. Murray Pask
