Fernie is home to many wonderful cultural events, talented artists, engaging history and a vibrant and lively cultural scene.

The heart of Fernie’s vibrant community is the small but perfectly formed Historic Downtown.

Historic Downtown is a highlight of any Fernie travel itinerary. Centred around 2nd Avenue, Fernie offers boutique shopping, dining, attractions and activities of a more gentle nature. Plan to spend at least a day exploring all the unique features and soaking up the charming atmosphere from a summer patio or on a snowy stroll, while enjoying spectacular mountain views in every direction.

The Arts Station is the hub of Fernie’s cultural scene and home of the Fernie & District Arts Council.

The Arts Station is open by appointment for studio time and in-person programming including workshops and classes. Pre registration is required. Visitors are welcome to view the monthly exhibits in the Foyer Gallery without appointment. The Arts Station facilitates art activities, gallery exhibits, public art and much more both at the station and around the community.

The Vogue Theatre is one of Fernie’s busiest year-round attractions. Fully refurbished over the past 5 years, the family-owned theatre features a welcoming foyer with concessions, two movie theatres and a completely updated sound & visual system for the best in picture & audio quality. The 2nd floor features a gallery of new and vintage, arcade and table games. The space is available for private bookings, with unlimited gaming included. Just order your pizza and get ready to play with your stag or stagette, school or reunion group, then settle in for a night at the movies.

Located in a beautiful heritage building in historic downtown Fernie, the the Fernie Art Co-op is a volunteer organization that provides a venue for local and regional artists to display and sell their work. Open 7 days, 10am - 6pm

For 15 years, the coop has featured a wide variety of media including original paintings, textiles, jewellery and accessories, photography, woodwork, pottery, soap, sculpture, home furnishings and fine art prints that portray the region and lifestyle of the Elk Valley and Kootenay Rockies. The Fernie Arts Co-op is a gallery operated by the artists for the artist in everyone! Coop members take turns running the store so there’s always an opportunity to meet and speak directly with featured artists. Many of the 50 artists work in more than one medium.
