Peacocks, History and Indians At the western edge of St. Petersburg lies a Tocobaga Indian mound, and the Anderson family – of Anderson Lumber fame – has held onto the property and kept it largely wild. The Anderson family leads tours throughout the week and yes, you will see peacocks. The tour includes a nice bit of history about the Tocobaga – they’re the ancestors of the Seminole Tribe of Florida – and the mound, taking you through more than a millennia of history on the site. The 900’ long mound is 25’ high. The tour includes stories of the almosthumorous Narváez expedition that landed near or in the Tampa Bay area (no one really knows) and more recent tales of the area’s history, including speculation about illegal hooch and Walter Fuller. Sacred Lands, 1700 Park St. N., St. Petersburg. Wed.-Sat., 11:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.; Sun., 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. & 4 p.m. $10.70 SD

Light Up the Night Head on over to Boca Ciega Bay to watch the lit boat parade. It’s a naturally socially distanced event, and you can spread out along the beach as you spread holiday cheer. This event also supports the Gulfport Police Department’s annual Operation Santa, because every boater who enters either donates two new presents (unwrapped) or donates money to Operation Santa. You can see the parade anywhere along the water from Osgood Point to the Pasadena Yacht & Country Club. Gulfport Waterfront, 6:30 p.m. sailbcyc.org/ event-4041704 SD DF
