Big Potato Big Potato is an indie board game company from Shoreditch, London. We began life as a wee potato back in 2012, with the launch of our very ﬁrst game, a simple little quiz called Linkee. Six years on and we’ve grown to 17 people and 19 games — kids, family and grown-up ones. All our games are made to three rules: they have to be easy to learn, quick to play and hard to put down. O’Donnell Moonshine Almost a hundred years ago in the United States the 18th amendment was passed banning the production, sale and distribution of alcohol. The clandestine era of distilling by moonlight had begun. Farmers quickly began to produce Moonshine in their back yards to meet the demand of the smugglers and bootleggers who took great risk in moving the moonshine by night. Kids control snacking Halloween is a highly competitive time for chocolate and candy brands – with Halloween spending expected to reach $9bn this year (with $2.6billion of that on candy), according to the National Retail Federation.

IN FOCUS Last Halloween, M&Ms ran an interactive ‘chooseyour-own’ story marketing campaign, where social media users could vote on how the story turned out.

Reese’s – the classic Halloween treat - are currently the 6th favorite snack of teenagers. According to a brand tracker study by YouGov, brand ad awareness for Reese’s is up by almost a third compared to the same period last year following a successful campaign, which included Halloween related TV ads and landing pages featuring videos and recipes. Parents exert a lot more control over the snacking choices of younger children. By the time children reach age 10, parents have lost half of their control over these choices. However, even at the youngest ages, children control 1 in 5 snack food choices.

With no ice cream brands in the top 10 lists, it will be interesting to see the impact of brands such as HaagenDazs re-branding, to become more ‘Instagrammable’. Halo Top ice cream have recently disrupted the market, with its high-protein, low calorie alternative.
