ou do not necessarily need a lot of money to achieve your dream. All you need is dedication and passion. Proving exactly this is Vicky Alhat a 20-yearold boy living in the Cantonment area in Camp. Vicky is currently one of the stronger contestants on the reality show, Dance India Dance Season 5 and is doing Pune proud with every performance. THE SMALL TOWN BOY Born in Satara to a not-so-affluent family, Vicky has led an extremely simple life in which dance was never a career option. When he lost his parents at a young age, Vicky moved to Pune to stay with his grandmother and uncle and studied at Camp Education Society. Afraid he would be a burden to his uncle, Vicky opened his own ‘bhangar’ shop at Camp and helped around the house alongside his studies. One day, while

surfing the internet he came across a video, which, he believes, has changed his life for the better. “It was four years ago that I saw a video by Dharmesh Sir (Dharmesh Yelande) on YouTube and was so intrigued. Even though I was studying to become an account officer, suddenly dancing was all I wanted to do. I failed the 12th standard exams because of the amount of time I spent dancing,” he says. Vicky, along with a few of his friends, practiced dance steps every night in his shop. They helped each other get better and even stole mirrors to see their mistakes better. HIS BIG DREAM Ask Vicky why he dances or what he hopes to achieve as a participant of DID and he answers almost instantaneously. “I want fame. I want people to know me and recognise me for my efforts and the work that I do. Dance is the best medium to do so,” says Vicky. He invented his own style, called Urban

Lyrical, which he showcased during the audition rounds. Vicky received praise from all three judges, Puneet Phatak, Mudasar Khan and Gaiti Siddiqui of DID season 5. “I could have understood every emotion you wanted to portray through your dance even if you danced without music. That is the sign of a true dancer,” said Punit to Vicky after his debut performance. Vicky is currently in the top 15 contestants in Mudasar Khan’s team and is extremely determined to win. “It’s a tough task given the amount of pressure there is to deliver during the rehearsals and shoots. But I know that all of this is only going to make me a better dancer and take me closer to what I want to achieve. I am learning so much,” said Vicky. Winning the show will be a big deal for me and my family. They have supported me throughout and sharing the recognition I get from the show is the least I could do for them,” he added. salonee.mistry@goldensparrow.com

The fact that most of us know each-other in some way just makes the process easier,” says Suvrat Joshi who plays Sujay in the show. “We now spend more time with each-other than with our families and so we know each-other well. Pink Floyd fans are in for a treat this week, as local favourites, Livewire, play a tribute gig featuring the best of the cult group’s psychedelic music

cert Livewire did last year which proved such a hit with the city audience, that Hard Rock Cafe, Pune has chosen to host the tribute all over again. Livewire has, in its portfolio of tribute concerts over the last three years, featured the music of popular bands like AC/DC, Eagles, Maroon 5, Green Day, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams. The bands covered also speak of Livewire’s ability to perform a diverse range of Pop/Rock music, as well as the hard labour involved in working out and putting together the music. Formed in 2004, Livewire’s current line-up features founder of the band Troy Damerum (guitar), Vibhas Shukla (vocals), Leo Mathew (keyboards), Albert Dennis (bass), Phil-

une’s immensely popular band Livewire is paying a tribute to Pink Floyd, one of the world’s greatest Progressive Rock bands, on Thursday, July 23. It’s a repeat of a con-

lipe D’Lima (drums) and Rustom Jhaveri (saxophone). Band members talk about their love for Floyd and surviving the indie scene: Their take on Pink Floyd’s music Troy: It is spacey, trippy, psychedelic music. David Gilmour’s guitar and Floyd’s sound are in a unique dimension, really. I wasn’t a hardcore Floyd fan but, after last year’s tribute concert, I have come to appreciate the larger-thanlife scope of the band’s music. I have really got into the Floyd vibe now. Vibhas: I, too, was not a Floyd fan earlier. I come from a Rock ‘n’ Roll background, which is generally high energy and fast tempo. Floyd is quite radically different. The music has a

unique laidback, surreal quality, which is like floating in a dream. Performing it, therefore, means more than just learning the tune and lyrics by heart; one has to feel and dissolve in the flow of the songs, especially the slow numbers. Leo: Recreating the sounds and textures of the band’s music is specially challenging to me as a keyboard player. Like Vibhas says, it is more than just knowing what notes to play. One has to feel the music inside. Albert: I have spent two decades of listening to and getting to know Pink Floyd music. So when it came to performing the music, I felt really comfortable with it but this performance is definitely much more than doing a concert of covers.

Key to Livewire’s success Troy: We keep practicing and changing our repertoire. We continue to take it forward for the sake of our audiences. We are passionate enough about performing our music to have given up the regular, monotonous jobs. I am glad that it is paying off and that our listeners show that they truly appreciate our performances. We are also lucky to be living in Pune, which, we must say, has the best audience in the country. The audience is always willing to listen to something new, or some not-so-well-known songs, that we may choose to perform. When: July 23 Where: Hard Rock Cafe, KP sudheer.gaikwad@goldensparrow.com

Different ways to use fresh figs Chef Nader Shaikh shares his tried-and-tested tips: • You can add figs while preparing oatmeal or porridge for a different flavour and sweetness. • You can poach figs in juice or red wine and serve it with yogurt. • You can also bake them until they are tender and add honey and yogurt to it. For the added aromatic flavour, you can sprinkle cardamom powder or pomegranate seeds and serve with fresh cream. She shares with us a simple and easy-to-make recipe:

mustn’t be stored beyond two days. You should refrigerate them in a shallow container. When using them in a dish, you should leave them out under the sun for an hour

Poach whole figs in spiced syrup until it gets tender. Add sugar, water or fruit juice to the syrup. You can try rosemary, orange zest or lemon juice. Add vanilla bean and cardamom pods. Make the syrup first then steam the figs. Remove figs after 10 minutes and add them later once the syrup cools. The compote is ready to serve.

It’s almost all about the money

T

he Debt Collector’s Due was brought to life by Adhirath Sethi’s own trysts with business. Having come across a debt collector, he was struck by the brutal routine of the job. He could not help but consider how a story might unfold should such an individual be cast into a thrilling situation. “Writing is what I do to destress. There are times when I open a blank document, write for a couple of hours and then close the document without even saving it. While growing up, I did spend a lot of time writing essays and short stories. At some point, I was struck with a story idea that really excited me and I decided to see if I had what it took to flesh out an entire novel, says Adhirath as he talks about the beginnings of his novel. The author writes because situations intrigue him. He finds a joy in exploring the what-ifs and turning them into sub-plots. “I was toying with this idea of a debt collector, who does not experience any excitement whatsoever, being plunged into a world of mob bosses and crime. The story took shape as a novel, which was then sent to HarperCollins. I was pleasantly surprised to get a mail from them saying that they really liked the story and my style of writing. They encouraged me to add more volume, as the story was too short to publish as a novel initially, Adhirath recalls. It is a huge challenge to set oneself apart in the market of books. So, adopting different strategies to promote the book also becomes the author’s job. “We spent a lot of time thinking about our book launch. Rather than a standard wine and cheese affair, we orchestrated a mock murder mystery, complete with videos of suspects, which the guests had to solve. This made sure the guests left the event feeling like they had been a part of something special. Therefore, they were more likely to share the experience on social media. It also helped generate interest from the media since it was so unusual, he replies. The first book for every author is a brand building exercise. Writing is a talent the author already possesses but the book also helps build a mini marketing guru. Product placement is key whether in bookstores or on websites but it is also an expensive affair. Dealing with finances is also an art that an author needs to learn, believes Adhirath. “Bookstores charge a lot for stacking books prominently and there is no way an author can justify this cost against the royalties from selling the book. To give you a rough estimate, an author would need to sell about 3,000 copies through a single store to recover the cost of product placement in just that store. The economics are very different for the publisher, which is why their support is essential to an author’s success. I see my investment in this book as both a marketing effort to promote myself as a serious author as well as a signal to the publisher that I am willing to go the extra mile to ensure the book sells, he explains.

riters, especially young authors, find it hard to snatch some time under the spotlight. Finding a fortune as a writer is an even more extraordinary task. Yet, the author writes

diligently because s/he knows no better joy. With technology creeping into the world of misty, dog-eared pages, a number of authors have taken to exploring themes and regurgitating ideas in their own style. Meet some new authors who are positive about their chosen field and have decided to never look back.

A

uthor Priyanka Luthra claims to be a slave to the written word. She has been reading stories since she can remember so writing came naturally to her. It was only a matter of time before she gave in to the love of writing. At 28, the author has penned her second book, Simple Plane Love, which follows the journey of Captain Meera Khanna, a 28-year-old girl who, quite literally, wanted to fly before she learnt how to walk. She chose to go to Philippines to fly a small aircraft only for the love of flying. She didn’t want to fly from one airport to another in a fly-by-wire jet engine but wanted to soak in the experience. Captain Priyanka Luthra was born in Pune and is an engineering graduate. She believes in living life laterally because living in a straight line would make it extremely monotonous. She is a quintessential dream chaser, and has been chasing and

fulfi lling them, one dream at a time. She now belongs to the minority community of women pilots in India, which has its share of fans and cynics. Everyday has a new experience waiting for her in the airport lounge and beyond. “The inception of a plot seems most interesting to me. How a character behaves in a situation and the reactions to his/her behaviour makes it both amusing and amazing at the same time, says Priyanka. Authors get a chance to harness their creativity to the fullest. You get to create, re-create, even destroy, the writer believes. “Writing has opened my mind a little more. My imagination now has stronger wings than ever before. This makes people and places more interesting and the world becomes a place full of stories. Her advice to aspiring authors is to read. “You can’t be a writer if you aren’t a reader. Words are the fuel to the fire burning in your head.

is debut n o v e l , Letters from an Indian Summer, has been garnering critical acclaim. After a career in advertising, Siddharth Dasgupta found his true calling in writing. As a freelance writer, he has penned features for various travel magazines. In the novel, he describes numerous places like Kathmandu, Paris, Istanbul, Banaras, and Pune where his story begins. The author creates a visual imagery for the readers based on his life experience. “Before diving into a life with words, I’d enjoyed a 14-year adventure in advertising and media – as a copywriter, designer, and, eventually, creative director. Inspired by life and its mysteries, my debut novel was released in 2014. Letters from an Indian Summer is the love story

of an Indian photographer and a French artist struggling against their past and the immovable forces of destiny, says Siddharth. He has a very fresh and crisp sense of language that has the wow factor that any decent advertising professional masters quickly. Siddharth does not care to mince words about the financial aspect of writing a book, “Don’t get into writing if it’s money you’re after. Perhaps only seven to eight per cent of writers, worldwide, are able to make a living from writing. Follow the words, and your stories, with a blind passion but don’t chase after money. After penning copy for numerous clients and writing freelance features for a host of global publications, writing books was a natural progression for Siddharth. His media background also came in handy when it was time promote his work, “With the advent of social media, authors are expected to take on the onus of marketing their work on their unqualified shoulders. I have an advantage wherein my design and branding credentials have allowed me to conceptualise, create and shape my novel’s identity and have helped spread that identity across spheres like book launches, book festivals, and readings, he says.

PUBLISHER SPEAKS Vishwakarma Publications is a young publishing house, having begun operations in December 2012. They publish in English and Marathi, and hope to add other Indian languages in the coming years. “Since we are independent publishers, not the Indian arm of some big foreign imprint, we have begun from scratch, without the benefit of a long list of published international authors, several thousand books deep, says spokesperson Usha Karnani. She further adds, “We believe this gives us the opportunity to identify gaps in traditional publishing, encourage fresh writing and authors, and engage with our readers in ways that provide us with better insights into their demands and expectations. We are, therefore, attempting to open our doors to young and first-time authors seeking to make their work known. Vishwakarma Publications promote authors through events with their retail partners, on social media and through interaction with the press. This year, they are also the lead sponsors of the Pune International Literary Festival and they hope this will be a valuable platform for their authors and works.

his professional psychologist has ventured into the world of writing with her first book titled 21 Ways of Being Happy. Shama Patel holds a post-graduate degree in marriage and family counseling and has worked with mature adults, confused teenagers, couples, senior citizens, alcohol and drug addicts, survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking, and has been associated with various NGOs working with underprivileged children. “The process of writing has always helped me step out of an emotional turmoil. When people started to connect to what I wrote on my blog, it encouraged me further. Since it gave me the liberty to merge my profession and my passion, I decided to make use of this opportunity and enter the literary world as an author, says Shama. The author is often found glued to books or locked inside her art den, sketching black and white images. She is interested in tackling big-picture questions and puncturing some of our long-held beliefs about happiness. Her book talks about how to construct a life of virtue, happiness, fulfi llment, and meaning. “As a first time author and as someone who isn’t willing to shell out money to promote her book, it is a pretty taxing route. From the time my book has been out in the market, I am literally eating, breathing, talking and sleeping 21 Ways of Being Happy, she states emphatically, adding, “While it has been a successful journey so far, connecting with bookstores is a task wherein I exhaust most of my energy. For a book to grab eyeballs, it has to be seen on bookshelves in stores and to get the book on the shelf for a first time author is the toughest task. “I’ve had situations where my marketing ways have lead people to the bookstore to buy the book and disappointingly, they’ve walked back because the store did not have the book in stock. Further, my book falls in the nonfiction genre so people already have a preconceived notion of it being boring. Breaking these myths and reaching out to a larger audience has been tricky. I have begun to look for alternative ways to promote my work, she says.

Star struck!

From inaugurating jewelry stores to lending their names to retail and real estate brands, celebrities are endorsing Pune-based companies like never before By Heena Grover Menon @HeenaGM

T

owering billboards of celebrities fl ashing a smile, while endorsing a brand, dot every busy road in the city. Gone are the days when you would see hoardings such as these only in major metros like Delhi or Mumbai. With a spurt in the number of local businesses, there has been an upsurge in celebrity endorsements in Pune in the recent years. The trend has also made the city a strategic location for celebrities to earn big bucks by becoming the face of big budget companies. From retail to real estate, the city is expanding in every sphere and roping in celebrities from multiple fields, be it Bollywood, regional cinema or sports. IT’S A WINWIN FOR ALL According to Saurabh Gadgil, chairman and managing director (MD), PN Gadgil Jewellers, endorsements help in two ways — to sell a product and create a brand. The brand has Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan as its brand ambassadors. “Indian masses have a keen interest in knowing what their

favorite stars wear, what they like to eat, and so on. Whatever celebrities do catches people’s attention. So even if a celebrity is not able to sell a product, s/he can hugely influence the audience to at least take a look at the products. Celebrities, basically, are a tool to achieve long-term goals,” explains Saurabh. Talking about how this process helps the brands, celebrities and the customers, Rohit Gera, MD, Gera Developments, says, “We don’t believe in endorsements. While most companies just get a celebrity on-board to increase their popularity, we actually give the opportunity to our customers to interact with the celebrities in several ways. Our customers are very concerned about the future of their children and they want to give them the best. Th at’s the reason why we have tied-up with some personalities, who excel in their respective fields.” The company has collaborated with personalities such as Anil Kumble, Vishwanathan Anand, Mahesh Bhupathi, Shankar Mahadevan, Shiamak Dawar, and more recently, Lillete Dubey. Each of these celebrities runs coaching academies at their projects. “Since we have the best child-centric housing projects in the country,

customers show interest in investing in our projects as they know they will gain benefits in the long run. Similarly, since the celebrities also get a platform to showcase their talent,

doesn’t just mean attracting customers but it earns them recognition and credibility. Vinay Sardesai, senior DGM-brand, strategy and sales, Excellence Group, says, “Having a brand ambassador also proves successful when a company wants to build a global image. Even though we are operating from Singapore, the major chunk of our

customers are Marathi Manus. We thought of bringing in a regional celebrity on board. Th at’s how we fi nalised on Atul Kulkarni. He is a perfectionist in his field, almost like Aamir Khan is in Bollywood. Interestingly, Atul also belongs to Solapur from where a part of our operations actually began and that helps connect with our customers.”

Priyanka Chopra for Swipe Technologies

BUILDING TRUST AND CONNECT When a brand chooses a Bollywood celebrity such as Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra or Vidya Balan, it gains an instant brand recall amongst customers. Says Vastupal Ranka, director of Ranka Jewellers, “Considering Vidya Balan’s goodwill, we signed her on as our brand ambassador four years ago. Later, she won multiple awards for her performances in fi lms like The Dirty Picture and Kahaani. The association proved lucky for both of us and she helped us bring attention to our brand on a national level.” For a lot of brands, having a recognizable face promoting their product

THE COMPLEMENTING FACTOR Before signing a celebrity, the most important aspect that needs to be taken into consideration is whether the celebrity complements the brand and vice-versa. Many companies follow the herd and get a celebrity to endorse their brand only because their competitors are doing so. Says Nandita Khaire, director, RemBrand Consulting, “It’s a highly competitive market. To break the clutter, companies usually rope in celebrities to create a

attention to every aspect. Buying a home is invariably the single-most expensive and important investment that an Indian middle-class family makes. Such a purchase is unlikely to be influenced by hype and will only be driven by the perceived value for

Vishwanathan Anand for Gera Developers

In general, the use of brand ambassadors as a marketing tactic tends to see little success in very conservative markets when it comes to real estate. Says Sanjay Bajaj, MD-Pune, JLL India, “Home purchases in such markets tend to be driven by true logic and take place only after considerable BRAND CELEBRITY COST (IN RS) PN Gadgil Madhuri Dixit and Madhuri Dixit: 75 lakh Jewellers Salman Khan Salman Khan: 1 cr – 2 cr Ranka Jewellers Vidya Balan 1 cr - 1.5 cr Swipe Priyanka Chopra 1 cr Technologies Mantra Properties Priyanka Chopra 1 cr Excellence Group Atul Kulkarni 25 lakhs – 30 lakhs

money, appreciation potential and location integrity. Using brand ambassadors in such a market needs to be tempered with a lot of common sense and a marketing angle that factors in the real requirements and sentiments governing home purchases in that area.” However, for retail brands like PNG, roping in a Bollywood celebrity is an indication that the company is attempting a national outreach. “Some would ask why hire a male celebrity for a jewelry brand, but I think it’s actually quite an interesting strategy since Salman has a massive fan base across the country, even abroad,” adds Nandita.

Talking about the synergy factor, Pune-based Swipe Technologies has recently got Priyanka Chopra on board as the face of their brand, which they say was a well-thought-out plan. According to Shripal Gandhi, founder and CEO of Swipe, the startup began operations three years go with just six members but today, the company boasts of a pan-Asian presence both online and offl ine. “We chose Priyanka primarily because she is a youth icon and has built her image with immense hard work. It’s been only a few weeks that she has come on board and we can already see our digital platform gaining popularity. We have started a country-wide campaign to promote our products where Priyanka will appear in a short video and share her success story, followed by various onground contests, which will not only help us create awareness about our brand but also let people connect with the star personally,” says Shripal.

TACKLING CONTROV ERSIES When it comes to situations where the image of a celebrity is hit due to a controversy, a lot of companies support their brand ambassadors as they believe their relationship is built on trust. Says Saurabh, “Until a celebrity is just endorsing a product without making a false claim, nothing else matters to us, or the audience. People are clever enough to understand that celebrities are simply brand ambassadors. If a situation calls for corrective measures, we try to fi x things in a holistic manner.” On the other hand, some brands have a strong stand when it comes to controversies. “We have a clause in our contract which clearly says that if any celebrity gets into a controversy where their reputation is at stake, which in turn, might tarnish the image of our brand, we have the right to terminate the contract with immediate effect,” clarifies Rohit Gera. Termination of contract, is of course, an extreme case. Nandita explains, “If a situation like that arises, the fi rst thing that the company should do is stop publishing the advertisements and slowly peter down the association. There’s no point in tagging along and giving the benefit of doubt as negative publicity will always capture the minds of the consumers.” heena.grover@ goldensparrow.com

Anil Mahant Dhotre has managed to collect almost 300 telephones of various shapes and sizes. The odd collector hopes to build a museum some day By Zainab Kantawala @kantawalazainab

W

hen it comes to phones, most of us look out for one that holds the latest technology and best features. Consigning our old telephone to the depths of a waste bin does not seem like an arduous task. But it’s a different case with Anil Mahant Dhotre. He possessed nearly 300 antique and limited edition telephones that he has restored meticulously using original parts making sure all of them are still in working condition. His collection includes the first-ever wooden telephone installed in the Titanic, and others made using glass, marble, bottles and even in shapes of Mickey Mouse and Scooby Doo. “I started my collection in 2013, when I got my hands on a limited edition wooden phone that was made in 1910. After that I managed to get a replica model of the phone which Mahatma Gandhi used when he was in South Africa. Later, I just kept adding more to my collection,” says the 60-year-old. Anil built his collection of phones by connecting with friends and family members, requesting them to look out for a rare collectible when they would travel around India or abroad. He also tapped other collectors and convinced some owners to sell their old telephones. Anil has travelled the interiors of India, wherever he thought there was a chance to get his hands on a unique phone. “I managed to collect them all in a span of one year. It wasn’t easy. Besides the help from friends, I

travelled across the country looking for the telephones. I went to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, etc. I am going to Himachal next, hoping to find something there too,” he says. The retired arts teacher from MIT School also owns an antique wireless phone used by the soldiers of World War II. The phone is made of iron and has dynamite underneath. Anil has a vintage railway phone that has dial buttons from 0 to 12. “The most expensive phone I bought was

the Harley Davidson phone, where the tank and seat substitute as call receivers. It was for Rs 8,000 a year ago, and its value has doubled now. Another vintage phone called the Maharaja Phone made in pink marble is expensive too. It weighs 2.5 kg and was used by the royals of England earlier,” he adds. Maintaining a huge collection of telephones is not an easy task. One needs to frequently clean them so that they don’t rust. “Apart from cleaning them regularly,

I give every piece for servicing once in two months,” he says. Until now, Anil has spent nearly Rs 5 lakh to build his collection. He hopes to get his name into Limca Book of Records one day. “I have once displayed my collection at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir and I was fascinated to see the kids’ excitement. They should know about the evolution of this device. Besides the record, I also want to build a museum,” he says. zainab.kantawala@goldensparrow.com

Filmmakers lazy to cast Tabu in different roles

N

ational Awardwinning Bollywood actress Tabu, known for portraying intense characters, says fi lmmakers have become too lazy to cast her in different roles. Tabu said fi lmmakers find it easy to cast her for an intense role as they think it works for them. They lacks ‘vision’ to offer her different kind roles. “I think people do whatever is convenient to them because it suits them to cast me in serious and intense roles as it works. So, they take the easy way out in giving those roles,” Tabu told PTI. “They don’t have the vision to present me in a different role. I think they have become lazy in presenting me in a different manner,” she said. Cheeni Kumar The

actress, however, said she doesn’t like to be known as someone doing just “serious cinema”. But at the same time she is happy with the way her career has shaped up so far. The 43-year-old actress feels that 40s is an exciting time as a lot of things are happening for her. On being quizzed which is the ‘best phase’ of her career, the 40s or the initial years, Tabu said, “It is a busy time, a lot more is happening now. I think this is a good phase. I have gone through so many experiences and a range of work in 40s is a good place to be in. “There is an exciting range of things happening in my life. Shriya Saran not scared of playing mother's role

A

ctress Shriya Saran says she was initially scared to act opposite Ajay Devgn but later felt at ease as the superstar does not carry his stardom on the sets. Shriya will be seen playing the role of a mother in the upcoming fi lm Drishyam. Actresses usually shy away from playing the role of a mother, but Shriya was not sceptical about it. “It’s a beautiful fi lm and a wonderful character to play and that didn’t really bother me. I was not thinking about all this, I just wanted to do this fi lm,” she said.

Drishyam has already been made in different languages, but when the offer to act in the Hindi version came Shriya accepted it immediately. “It is a well written script... It’s a wonderful fi lm. The fi lm is gripping and one would love that. I did this fi lm because I wanted to work with Ajay Devgn. I have always been a big fan of his and he is a wonderful actor. Nishant (Kamat) is a wonderful director and I always wanted to work with these people,” Shriya said. PTI

I and Shah Rukh are just colleagues, not good friends: Ajay

A

ctor Ajay Devgn, who was pictured dinning with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Bulgaria, says they are just colleagues and not “good friends”. Numerous reports of their rivalry have cropped up but the two actors have always remained cordial in public. “We are not good friends as we don’t meet often. We are very casual. Whenever we meet we are like colleagues... It is all normal between us,” Devgn told PTI. The Singham actor’s wife Kajol, shares a great rapport with Shah Rukh and the duo make one of the most successful on-screen pair of Bollywood. SRK and Devgn had a fall out during the release of their films Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar in 2012 over screen sharing.

Asked if they buried the hatchet, he said, “We did not talk about it. It was not a war between me and Shah Rukh or Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) and me. It was between ADF (Ajay Devgn Films) and YRF (Yash Raj Films). Both were right as we both were trying to protect our films... A lot of money was riding on both the films. So we had to fight for our product.” “I did message Adi saying I had nothing against him...and have no qualms,” he added. The pictures of Devgn and SRK’s meeting in Bulgaria during shooting of Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale went viral on social media. “It was over hyped. I feel the whole problem between us was also over hyped as there was no problem. The media just kept writing about it,” the 46-year-old actor said. PTI

Fawad wants to act with Kareena

P

akistani actor Fawad Khan says he would definitely like to do a film with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan. Recently, a picture of Fawad and Kareena went viral, giving rise to speculation that they are working in a film together. “We happened to shoot in the same studio where she was present for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and I was shooting for Giovani. “As far as the question of working with her goes, I would love to work with a talented actor like her if I get an opportunity. I have a great deal of respect for these artistes,” Fawad said. We are hoping to see that release in the first quarter of the next year. Other than that I am in discussion with filmmakers but nothing is on paper yet,” said Fawad. When asked about his popularity among women, he said, “If you are the proper gentleman, every woman tends to fall for you,” he added. PTI
