I receive no special treatment. I may be a star outside and for the audience, but back home I am treated like a normal child,” said Sonakshi, who plays the girl-next-door from Mathura, in the film. Sonakshi has lost weight and we wondered if it had to something to do with her role in Tevar. “My director Amit Sharma did ask me to lose some weight, but it is not like I am a sukki bombil now. tions from the team, when it comes to playing a role. I never enforce my opinion but sometimes I do suggest a few changes in the look or costume,” said Sonakshi, who has worked as a costume designer on film sets before taking to acting. Sonakshi who comes alive as an actor in front of the movie camera, says it’s easy for her to switch from real to reel life. “I believe in spontaneity and don’t rehearse my lines or scenes over and over again. I don’t like monotony or repetition,” says Sonakshi, whose performance in the song Radha is

A source from the film adds, “Though Irrfan’s love interest is Deepika, the film is not a typical love story and Irrfan-Deepika’s love angle is just one track in the movie, and their onscreen chemistry has taken everyone by surprise. nexpectedness is a given in Anurag Kashyap’s world of the dreadful and the damned. Ugly, his most sensitive film to date, comparable with perhaps “That Girl In Yellow Boots”, begins with Tejaswini Kolhapure making a stunning comeback after years of uncertainty, contemplating death. Later, closer to the end, she tries to kill the person responsible for driving her beyond the brink.
‘Ugly’ is lovely Every character in Ugly is...well, ugly. Do not look for redemptive escape routes in this film. Moving radically away from last week’s all-is-well-in-the-world premise in PK, Ugly tells us what William Shakespeare did centuries ago. Human nature, by its very nature, is rotten and to the core. You cannot escape your basic nature of self-serving greed. Everyone in Ugly craves for something more than what he or she has in life. It may not be a better life, but there is a hankering for escape. Hence, the aforementioned wife Shalini (Tejaswini) trapped in a loveless marriage to a policeman, who is not unkind, simply insensitive to her needs, reveals an ugly side to her personality with a suddenness that leaves us repelled. Fathers, mothers, friends and lovers were never meant to behave the way they do in Kashyap’s kingdom of the doomed and the damned. The camera (Nikos Andritsakis) looks on with brazen brutality at the below-the-belt
buildings of Mumbai that have seen better days. So have the characters, if you ask me. All of them seem to have a happier back-story, which given the present crisis-ridden context in their lives, seems like a cruel joke. t’s the time for the party of the year. New Year's eve, December 31, is the biggest party of the year. And every party-goer wants to look their best. TGS Life consulted fashion designer and stylist Nafisa Poonawala Hashim, who dispenses tips on how to look your best on this year-ending party. Amar Ghagte and Vishrut Gupta tell you how to mix talk-of-the-town cocktails, and Preet Singh guides you on how to serve your guests an unforgettable meal
STYLE CHECK: Make sure you have two dresses/outfits for the New Year’s eve party in your wardrobe. Nafisa Poonawala Hashim advises Manu Yadav on how to look cool for the party. “This New Year’s eve party is special because I am going to celebrate it with my friends from college. I want to look special and stand out,” says Manu. Nafisa picks a leather skirt and spaghetti top for a casual look. “Manu has a svelte figure so almost everything looks good on her. For the party, I would pick a black short number which is classic, and a leather skirt with a crop or spaghetti top for a casual dinner.”
An off-shoulder dress will enhance her neck region. She is tall and the dress complements her height. “This season accessories should not be overdone. Limit it to just one chunky neckpiece is Nafisa’s advise for Manu. The colours in vogue are Aquamarine, Scuba and Classic Blue, Custard (a soft lemon yellow), Lucite Green (a sharp mint) and Marsala (a reddish brick brown). THE RIGHT DRINK New Year’s eve means flutes full of bubbly, and a host of other drinks. But if you are off alcohol, mix up a mocktail and drink the night away. Forget the usual vodka soda, or rum and coke. Talk to the bartender so that he knows what you want. Specify if you want a sweet or spicy cocktail, and the liquor you like. Be adventurous, try a cocktail on fire, or with unexpected ingredients like cayenne pepper, thyme, or edible flowers. Usually, I add vegetables to the fruit drinks like Cold beet (a beetroot-based drink), Sunset surprise (carrot-based drink) and Milky way (tomato-based drink).” Gupta said, “It is easy to create a refreshing drink with fruits and vegetables, but the trick is to create something with complex of flavours and attractive colours.”

Shailendra Singh, the man behind Sunburn, Asia’s largest music festival, recently launched his second book titled The True Story of Sunburn, in the city. He speaks to TGS News Service about the music festival; the reason behind writing the book and more

The thought of writing a book about Sunburn occurred to Singh, when he realised that the story of the conceptualisation and evolution of the festival could be an interesting read. “Just like the documentation of historical events in India,, the same thing needed to be done for Sunburn. If we didn’t intellectualise it, how would future generations take inspiration from it?” Singh said. “ I felt that if I put the story in the form of a book, in a truthful manner, it would not only be exciting today, but would also be very inspiring for future generations,” he said. The True Story of Sunburn begins with a narration about the first spark of consumer demand, followed by the first small party on Candolim Beach, the meteoric rise of Sunburn to Asia’s largest music festival status, culminating in Season 8, the largest festival season on the planet. Singh’s story-telling style is incisive and succinct, and the book is designed with the youth and their tastes in mind, to keep readers enthralled till the last page. “The book is an honest documentation of our journey. It is very difficult to organise an event such as Sunburn in India, and the book focuses on this aspect as well. The visuals the book has to offer are Booked & amazing, and are like the stills from a movie. Although it is a factual book, hooked it has been written in a way to keep the reader engaged till the very end,” Singh said. He calls it the first ‘live’ book in India. “I’m dyslexic, and have ADHD. I’m a very restless soul and can’t even read an article completely. So, I wanted to make it an interactive book, especially for youngsters. The book has phenomenal graphics. We got an 18-year-old graphic artist to design the book. The book also has official and candid Sunburn photos which amplify the nostalgia of the festival and its biggest moments,” he said. There is also a QR code at the end of some pages and if one were to download the mobile application, and put his/her phone on that code, he/she would be able to see live pictures of the festival. The book is priced at Rs 299. “The book is extremely economically priced, because I want every man on the street to have access to this book. I want every one to read it and take inspiration from it.
