The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 20, 2020, marks the 25th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Elizabeth Banks wrote/ produced/directed and co-starred in the recent “Charlie’s Angels,” which cost $55 million and earned just $51.5 million. Yet Universal Pictures has hired her to star and direct the remake of “The Invisible Man,” now “The Invisible Woman.”

John Cena, a nice guy who does a lot of good for children, is still a wrestler turned actor whose first major film, “Playing With Fire,” cost $30 million and grossed only $45.6 million. Yet his producer has signed him to star in “Vacation Friends,” with “Search Party’s” Meredith Hagner. Cena has already completed roles in “Fast & Furious 9” (opening May 22) and “Project X-Traction,” produced by and co-starring Jackie Chan.

HERE’S A TIP

TIP 1 Eat a hearty breakfast before heading out to the airport. Pack a piece or two of whole fruit or a portion of nuts for snacking, and bring an empty water bottle so you can make it through airport security and fill the bottle when you are at the gate. TIP 2 A potato peeler plus a bar of chocolate makes for a very fancy garnish for cake tops or even for hot drinks. TIP 3 Paper lunch bags make excellent receptacles for cat litter waste. They are much more environmentally friendly than plastic bags, and can be folded down and placed directly into an outside trash can. The bags are easily stored near the litter box, because they lay flat. TIP 4 Potatoes can be boiled whole, then plunged into icy water briefly when cooked. The skins should slip right off. INGREDIENTS 1 (750-mL) bottle pink moscato 6 c. strawberry lemonade 1/2 c. vodka Lemon slices DIRECTIONS In a large pitcher, stir together moscato, lemonade, and vodka. Garnish with lemon slices. Serve over ice.

INGREDIENTS 1 750-ml. bottle white wine, such as sauvignon blanc 2 c. pineapple juice 1 c. seltzer 1 c. chopped pineapple 1/2 c. coconut rum 1/4 c. maraschino cherries DIRECTIONS In a pitcher combine white wine, pineapple juice, seltzer, pineapple, coconut rum, and maraschino cherries. Refrigerate until chilled. Garnish with pineapple and serve.

INGREDIENTS 1 L Sprite 4 c. seltzer 1 (750-ml.) bottle prosecco 1 c. vodka 1/4 c. blue curaçao 1 lemon, thinly sliced 3 c. ice DIRECTIONS Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl. Stir to combine and serve into glasses.

Apple Cider Mojitos

INGREDIENTS Ice Juice of 1 lemon 1/2 c. gold rum apple cider Mint, for garnish Apple slices, for garnish Cinnamon sticks, for garnish DIRECTIONS Fill 2 glasses with ice. Add the juice of half a lemon to each glass. Divide the rum between the two glasses, then fill 3/4 of the way full with apple cider. Top each with a splash of seltzer and stir to combine. Garnish with mint, thyme, and a slice of apple.

Brunch Rum Punch

INGREDIENTS 1/2 c. light rum 1/2 c. dark rum 3/4 c. fresh orange juice 3/4 c. pineapple juice 3/4 c. cranberry juice 2 tbsp. grenadine Ice Orange slice Seltzer, optional DIRECTIONS Place the rums, orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and grenadine in a large pitcher and stir together. Fill four tall glasses with ice and divide the rum mixture among them. Garnish each glass with an orange slice and serve immediately.

Prosecco Slushies

INGREDIENTS 2 c. prosecco 1 1/2 c. chopped strawberries 1/4 c. lime juice 1/2 c. vodka ice Mint, for garnish DIRECTIONS In a blender, combine prosecco, strawberries, lime juice, and vodka.
