BUILDING BLOCKS Boundaries every marriage need
As a couple, establishing boundaries is imperative to protecting the integrity of your marriage. It is vital that you are on the same page when it comes to what’s acceptable behavior for your relationship. While all relationships are different, listed below are several boundaries that should be non-negotiable in every healthy marriage.
1. Ignoring your spouse
This probably seems obvious, but tragically, this happens all-too-often in marriage. Some spouses do this to punish their spouse when they don’t get their way. Others ignore their spouse simply as a means to avoid talking about hard issues. Whatever the motivation, you shouldn’t avoid your spouse or emotionally shut them out of your life.
2. Withholding sex from your spouse
Sex is an important part of marriage, and it is an amazing way to connect to your spouse. Even so, some spouses use sex as a bargaining chip or punishment in their marriage—and this is extremely detrimental to the relationship.
3. Physically hurting one another
This may seem obvious, but for many couples it’s not. Physical abuse is never a part of a healthy relationship.
4. Speaking negatively to others about your spouse
If you have a problem with one another, you need to address the problem directly. Nothing good will come from telling your friends and family about a problem that you really need to talk about with your spouse.
5. Allowing others to speak negatively about your partner As husband and wife, you should be the first to protect each other’s reputations. You shouldn’t allow your family or friends to speak negatively about your spouse.
6. Speaking unkindly to one another. Every couple is going to disagree and argue. It is important to talk through disagreements rather than let them fester. Holding on to something for too long will destroy your relationship over time.

NEW 2021 MODELS ARRIVING DAILY A tarantula discovered in 2015 near Folsom Prison, California, was given the scientific name “Aphonopelma johnnycashi� after Johnny Cash, in honor of his song “Folsom Prison Blues.� “The Crocodile Hunter,� Steve Irwin, had a snail named after him, the “Crikey steveirwini,� a rare species of tree snail with a khaki-colored shell, discovered in 2009. Some 60% of human DNA is identical to that of a banana. The maddening but addictive Rubik’s Cube was created by accident. Professor of architecture, Erno Rubik, built a twistable box with colorful rows of labels on each side in an attempt to design blocks that could move without collapsing the entire structure. After rotating a few rows and mixing up the colors, the real challenge began: realigning the hues! It took Rubik about a month to restore his cube to its original condition. Need a reason to like Monday? It’s the least rainy day of the week. While the science behind this is unclear, researchers believe it’s likely due to the decrease in manmade pollution over the weekend.

A veteran went to a VA emergency room suffering from suicidal thoughts. He was in pain, suffered from withdrawal seizures, and was on medication that had been tapered down until he was entirely out of pills. At the, ER the veteran asked to be admitted for inpatient detox. Instead, they scheduled him for a same-day psych evaluation. A Veteran Experience Specialist took the veteran back to the ER, and told them, again, that he’d asked for inpatient care. The veteran was handed off to an outpatient psychiatrist who recommended either inpatient detox or inpatient psychiatry care, inpatient in either case. The psychiatrist also escorted the veteran back to the ER. In all, within 12 hours, the veteran saw a total of seven medical providers. Five days later the outpatient psychiatrist finally made an appointment for a substance-use program, but no one told the veteran. He missed the appointment, of course, but no one followed up. Six days after his ER visit, the veteran committed suicide.

INGREDIENTS 1 (8-oz.) block cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 c. shredded Pepper Jack 1 clove garlic, minced Kosher salt Freshly cracked black pepper 12 jalapeños 12 slices bacon, halved DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 400°. In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, Pepper Jack, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Halve jalapeños lengthwise, then use a spoon to remove seeds and veins. Fill with cheese mixture and wrap each with a halved slice of bacon. Place on a baking sheet and bake until bacon is crispy and peppers are tender, about 25 minutes.

Boundaries are essential to a healthy life. Setting and sustaining boundaries is a skill—a skill that many of us don’t learn. It’s possible to pick up pointers here and there from experience or through watching others set boundaries. But for many of us, boundary-building is a relatively new and challenging concept. Having healthy boundaries means “knowing and understanding” what your limits are. Below, are some insights into building better boundaries. 1. Name your limits. You can’t set good boundaries if you’re unsure of where you stand. So, identify your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual limits. Consider what you can tolerate and accept and what makes you feel uncomfortable—those feelings help you identify what your limits are. 2. Be direct. With some people, maintaining healthy boundaries doesn’t require a direct and clear-cut dialogue. Usually, this is the case if people are similar in their communication styles, views, personalities and general approach to life. With others, such as those who have a different personality or cultural background, you’ll need to be more direct about your boundaries. 3. Practice self-awareness. Again, boundaries are all about listening to your feelings and honoring them. If you notice yourself slipping and not sustaining your boundaries, ask yourself: “What’s changed?” or “What is the situation creating that’s making me resentful or stressed?” 4. Be assertive. Of course, you know that it’s not enough to create boundaries; you actually have to follow through. 5. Start small. Like any new skill, communicating your boundaries takes practice. Start with a small boundary that isn’t threatening to you, and then incrementally increase to more challenging boundaries.
