SHOW APPRECIATION Do you appreciate your spouse every day? If you want your relationship to make it for the long haul, then you will learn that big gestures are nice, but it’s the little things that count. Never let an opportunity pass you by to tell someone how much they mean to you. If you need ideas to help show appreciation to your spouse, then here are some that will assist.

Not just any smile, but you want a smile so deep and genuine that it lights up your eyes. Never let a moment pass you by where you don’t show the one you love how much you care. You’re not promised tomorrow, and life is but a vapor that can quickly be gone. Make sure that if tomorrow never comes, they know how much you loved them.

Don’t neglect the most important person in your life

How well you handled a situation, how lovely

Move that gorgeous body of yours every single day and learn to love the skin you’re in. You can’t hate your way into loving yourself. 4. Don’t believe everything you think. There is an inner critic inside of you trying to keep you small and safe. The downside is this also stops you from living a full life. 5. Surround yourself with people who love and encourage you. Let them remind you just how amazing you are.

6. Stop the comparisons. There is no one on this planet like you, so you cannot fairly compare yourself to someone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is you. 7. End all toxic relationships. 8. Celebrate your wins no matter how big or small. 9. Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. It’s incredible the feeling you get when you realize you have achieved something you didn’t know you could do before. 10. Take time out to calm your mind every day.
11. Treat others with love and respect. It will make you feel better about yourself when you treat others the way you hope to be treated. 12. Learn to say no. Saying no doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you a smart person. 13. Give up the need for approval from others. 14. Get creative and express yourself in whatever way you like. 15. Have fun! Get out there and do the things that light your fire. Enjoy them, enjoy being you and enjoy your incredible life.

SHORTBREAD LAYER 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened 1 c. granulated sugar 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 300°. Line a 13”-x-9” pan with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray. Make shortbread layer: Cream softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy. CARAMEL LAYER Make caramel layer: in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stir caramel and 2 (11-oz.) packages caramel squares cream together until melted, 10 minutes. Pour over cooled shortbread crust. 1/2 c. heavy cream Make chocolate layer: Melt chocolate in microwave in 30 second intervals and CHOCOLATE LAYER stir until smooth. Pour over caramel layer. 2 c. semisweet chocolate chips Flaky sea salt, for garnish Refrigerate 20 minutes until firm, then slice into bars. Top with flaky sea salt.

How many daily steps do we really need for optimum health? Ten thousand steps seems to be the gold standard in most of what we read to keep diabetes and high blood pressure (as well as several other conditions) at bay. And how do we keep track of all our steps? Before you decide on a target number of steps per day, call your medical provider and ask how many you should be doing. You might learn that with an otherwise active, healthy life, several thousand steps per day might be enough, rather than the whole 10,000. How to count those steps is the tricky part. I have several of those little clip-on step counters, and unfortunately, they all come up with different results. I have no way of knowing which are accurate. There is a popular tracker called Fitbit, a fancy step counter that looks like a watch. Each model has pros and cons, per thousands of online reviews. Some do more than just count steps; they also keep tabs on your location with GPS, your pace and how far you’ve walked, your sleep profile, your heart rate and your stress level. They can be pricey, especially if you want to unlock all the features and sign up for Fitbit Premium to see all your data on the dashboard. Your best bet is to Google “best step counters for seniors” and wade through a few dozen choices. You’ll find Apple Watch, 3DTriSport Walking 3D Pedometer, Garmin Vivofit 4 activity tracker and so many more. If you have a subscription to Consumer Reports, check their reviews on activity trackers for seniors. Before you opt for an expensive tracker, visit a store where they are sold and try them out. A watch font might be too tiny to read, or a clip-on might not stay clipped on.

INGREDIENTS 4 fresh strawberries, hulled 2 ounces of Marquis Vodka 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice Soda water DIRECTIONS Muddle strawberries in a shaker. Add Marquis vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice, shake, and strain into a glass. Top with soda.
INGREDIENTS 1/4 c. melted white chocolate rainbow sprinkles 1 750-mL bottle of Champagne (or Prosecco) 1 qt. rainbow sherbet
DIRECTIONS In a small dish, pour melted white chocolate. In another small dish, pour rainbow sprinkles. Dip champagne glass rims in melted white chocolate, then in sprinkles. Add 1 to 2 scoops of sherbet to each champagne flute. Top with champagne and serve immediately.
