Like any timeless tale of love, Downtown’s newly resurrected, historic Bank of Italy built in 1922, now hosts an extravagant hotel, complete with the rooftop view of Bar Clara and the ground floor dining and lounge experience, of Per L’Ora.

Designed by architectural firm Morgan, Walls & Clements (Mayan Theater), when it comes to beauty, there simply isn’t a more aesthetically pleasing restaurant anywhere in DTLA.

Back then guests would stand in line to deposit currency, today they withdraw signature cocktails like the Owl’s Castle one very potent mix of Tenjaku Gin, Vodka, Mancino Sakura, Nigori Sake, and Rose Orange Bitters.

The main dining room sits beneath a stunning Italianate 20-foot Beaux-Arts ceiling and fills the air with delightful conversation which resonates well beyond its brilliant Mediterranean arches. Visitors also have access to the basement where they may experience what it was like to step inside the bank’s enormous brass vault over one hundred years ago.

Worth her weight in gold, Le Cordon Bleu Executive Chef Courtney VanDyke (previously of the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills) presents diners with a lovely selection of hearty plates as visually stunning as she is.

Recommended dishes include the Chef’s Hamachi slices wading in a delicate pool of Olive Oil, and Agua Chile; Tagliatelle with Lobster, Fresno Chili, Garlic-parsley breadcrumbs, Squid Ink, and Orecchiette; Birria Oxtail Ragu with scallion, and Manchego.

If you’re not familiar with the Italian language, no worries, each dish is pronounced: “de-lish-us”.

LA ART SHOW RETURNS TO THE LA CONVENTION CENTER LORIN GALLERY

Collectors grab your check books – Art Enthusiasts – Get ready to be wowed Inspiring artists – Grab your paintbrushes and palettes – The LA Art Show, LA’s largest and longest-running art fair, will return to the Los Angeles Convention Center on February 15–19th.

The LA Art Show creates one of the largest and longest running international art fairs in the world, providing an exciting, immersive, insider art experience to sponsors, their select guests and VIP clients.

Guided by the leadership of LA Art Show producer and director Kassandra Voyagis, this year’s fair has a variety of programming intended to inspire.

“We’re back with a bang,” said Voyagis. “I’m blown away by the scope of work represented at this year’s show and incredibly honored to help bring

it all together. We’re welcoming an extraordinary group of diverse global artists and galleries, learning from each other, and sparking important conversations.”

The Fair’s non-commercial program, and cultural anchor, DIVERSEartLA returns with an ambitious agenda, addressing the global climate crisis. The 2023 edition, curated by Marisa Caichiolo, includes eight art institutions, museums and non-profits presenting an interdisciplinary solo project from video installations and immersive experiences to augmented reality and community-oriented projects, which examine not just how the environment is represented in art but how humanity’s place in the world is depicted.

Lorin Gallery is proud to announce and welcome back

Erin Milez for a solo exhibition. Her exhibition, “Two Bodies, One Mind”, will run from February 14thMarch 11th, 2pm to 4pm and features a series of her most recent large-scale artwork.

Erin Milez’s vibrant, expressive exhibition consists of 10 large-scale paintings and 4 watercolor works on paper that depict her subjects in a variety of everyday life. Milez has produced a solo show that not only captivates the audience but also stirs emotion on first impression.

In her new series, the artist portrays the parents' bodies as wide and bending, showing bot their enthusiasm and exhaustion as they finish the day's tasks. These depictions draw inspiration from historical works of art that depict laborers, such as the works of Jean-Francois Millet, Gustave Courbet, and Vincent Van Gogh.

Recollections of Millet’s “The Gleaners,” Van Gogh’s “The Siesta” (After Millet), and Tooker’s “Night”, are reinterpreted into this interior domestic life of modern-day parents.

Born in 1994, Erin Milez grew up in Chicago and has lived in both Seattle and the New York City. In 2021, she earned her BA in Studio Art from Seattle Pacific University and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art.

Milez has been a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant and was featured in Art Maze Mag Issue 26. Her work has been exhibited in various galleries, including Monya Rowe Gallery, Cob Gallery, Kutlesa Gallery, and Badr El Jundi Gallery. She currently resides in Bayonne, NJ with her husband and daughter.

Cali Vibes has once again partnered with Delicious Vinyl to collaborate, curate, and initiate the discovery of Caribbean artists and culture. The BoomYard is returning for all three days and will feature a specially curated lineup of Caribbean talent to celebrate their rich culture. The building, built in 1927 by architects Albert Raymond Walker (Trust Company Building) and Percy Augustus Eisen (United Artists Building) holds the legacy of famed tile maker Earnest Bachelder tempting guests to embark on a short tour of the main lobby before or after dining.

Lunch and dinner at 10E are always a surefire way to win one’s heart. As long as your table includes 10E’s Hummus Awarma with Chickpea Puree, Spicy Ground Lamb, Pine Nut, Tahini, Lemon, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil your relationship is going to be off to a great start.
