Donors Make the Difference

The Hanover Theatre’s Mighty Wurlitzer is the largest theatre pipe organ in New England and a rare instrument for the Worcester community to enjoy.

Our patrons are at the heart of organization and your support has an impact on everything we do, from our main stage performances to our engagement programs for students and families. Donors at every level gain access to a range of benefits, including early access to tickets and special discounts. Our Historic & Architectural Tours and Mighty Wurlitzer Musical Revues are always FREE for members and their guests.

Revenue from ticket sales is very important to us but, as a nonprofit organization, we rely on contributions to make our work possible. Did you know that approximately $66 of a $70 ticket directly covers the cost of a performance? However, 100% of your donation supports The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory. Donations fund our education programs, community engagement activities, conservatory scholarships for all ages, subsidized tickets and our community. Your donation also helps maintain our historic theatre, operations and more.

From Access to the Arts to the Mighty Wurlitzer to scholarships, you can direct your donation to a specific fund

and support the programs that are most important to you.

Elevate Your Experience at THT with a Franklin Square Society Membership

Our Franklin Square Society (FSS) is a special membership recognizing generous supporters who make annual contributions of $1,500 or more. FSS members provide a vital source of support for the long-term health and well-being of the theatre as a dynamic downtown destination where all people can experience the transformative power of the performing arts.

Why Join the Franklin Square Society?

• Free parking in the lot behind the theatre

• Enjoy complimentary beverages in our historic Franklin Square Salon before the show and during intermission

Enjoy More Music of the 70's

Neil Berg returns to Worcester and he recently shared some inspiration behind his next tour.

Q. Why do you think the 1970's were such a groundbreaking decade for rock & roll?

A. When I started creating my 50 Years of Rock & Roll shows, I realized I couldn’t dive deeply into any particular decade. That’s why I decided to focus on the 1970's, it’s the decade of my childhood and one of the most explosive for rock ‘n’ roll. The 70's saw genres like hard rock, soft rock, punk and country rock emerge. Singer-songwriters like Sonny & Cher, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon and Neil Young thrived, while R&B legends like Stevie Wonder infused rock with soul. Bands like Queen, Fleetwood Mac and Boston brought new sounds, and even established artists like The Who and The Rolling Stones evolved. It was an incredible era of creativity and diversity.

Q. Can you share a bit about the process of selecting the songs and artists featured in the show?

A. I choose songs and artists that were impactful and match our singers’ voices. It also love sharing lesser-known stories about the songs and artists, t makes the show more than just a concert. It’s a combination of great rock music and Broadwaystyle storytelling.

Q. Do you have a favorite song or artist from the 1970's featured in the show?

A. Billy Joel and Elton John are two of my favorites because their piano-driven songs inspired me to play. I also love Pink Floyd for their storytelling albums, like The Wall. Their influence pushed me toward

writing music that tells stories, which led me to Broadway.

Q. What role did the music of the 70's play in your career?

A. The storytelling in 70's rock influenced my path from playing in rock bands to writing musicals. Bands like The Who and keyboard virtuosos like Keith Emerson of ELP inspired me to combine classical techniques with my musicw.

Can you tell us about the performers Q. and musicians in the show?

A. Our singers are Broadway rock musical veterans or national recording artists, some Grammynominated, others seen on The Voice. Our band includes phenomenal musicians like bassist Abraham Saenz, who has played with Tito Puente and Celia Cruz, and guitarist Mike Wilson, who starred in Broadway’s TINA - The Tina Turner Musical. Together, they bring authenticity, energy and passion to every single performance.

This spring, we are excited to share Much Ado About Nothing presented by The Hanover Theatre Repertory (THT Rep). Directed by Brendan Fox, tthis classic by William Shakespeare follows the tangled affairs of Benedick and Beatrice, two fiercely independent souls engaged in a battle of wits, and the sweet courtship of Claudio and Hero, whose young love is threatened by jealousy and deception. This sharp-tongued comedy proves that, sometimes, the biggest fuss is made over absolutely nothing at all.

The home to THT Rep is the BrickBox Theater located in the Jean McDonough Arts Center (JMAC) just around the corner from The Hanover Theatre at 20 Franklin Street. The mission of THT Rep is to engage, entertain and energize audiences with

dynamic theatrical events made in and for Worcester, with a focus on classics, modern classics and classics-inspired works. In short: vital cities have vital downtowns, and vital downtowns have great professional theatre. We can't wait to see you this spring.

Join us April 10-27 at the BrickBox. Learn more about THT Rep and about tiered ticket pricing from $15-$203. TheHanoverTheatre.org/THT-Rep

Please check terms & conditions when purchasing.

Box Office Hours of Operation: (in person and by telephone) Monday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm; Sunday (if there is a performance), noon until 30 minutes after curtain on performance evenings. Tickets may be purchased online 24/7 at TheHanoverTheatre.org. By telephone, call the box office at 877.571.7469 during standard hours of operation.

Visit or mail the box office at: 2 Southbridge Street, Worcester, MA 01608

E-mail: boxoffice@thehanovertheatre.org

Cameras (Recording Devices): Our standard policy is that all such devices are prohibited from use in the theatre, and offenders may be ejected without compensation. On rare occasions, specific performers or engagements may request that this policy be suspended, in which case we will advise our patrons by covering lobby signage which lists the standard policy. All members of the press or media must receive advance authorization from the PR dept. (PR@thehanovertheatre.org) to use cameras or recording devices inside the theatre and must display identification upon arrival.

Please be sure to leave your cellular number with anyone who may need to reach you during an emergency, and in the event of an emergency please take your call in the lobby.

Inclement Weather Policy: It is generally impossible for touring shows and performances to be rescheduled, so we do not cancel events due to inclement weather. As with other touring performances and sporting events, we are unable to refund tickets. In extreme weather conditions we will do our best to exchange subscriber, FLEX package and member tickets to an alternate performance, if applicable. To protect your purchase, the theatre strongly recommends that you add on ticket insurance at the time of ticket purchase through Booking Protect. Lost and Found: Management is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Items found at the theatre will be held by the house manager. If you have lost an item, please contact the box office as soon as possible to make a report. You will then be contacted if the item has been found. Retrieval of the item is the responsibility of the customer. Items not claimed within 30 days will be donated or disposed of without compensation.

Prohibited items and activities which are prohibited include (but are not limited to): smoking, weapons, outside food or drinks, camera or recording devices, cell phones not silenced or set to vibrate, laser pointers, disruptive or abusive language, animals (except those assisting persons with disabilities), and persons exhibiting intoxication or drug use. Offenders may be removed from the theatre without compensation.

Rental of Theatre and Event Spaces: THT is available for rent to appropriate organizations and activities. Please contact Jackie Dillman, function coordinator at 508.471.1799 or specialevents@ thehanovertheatre.org for further information.

Resale of Tickets for Profit: Ticket holders may on occasion be in a position where they have purchased tickets that they later cannot personally use and will want to donate, give, trade or sell these tickets to friends or acquaintances. Management does not discourage private transactions of this nature. However, we may take appropriate actions to thwart the organized resale of tickets for profit by third parties, which we do not condone. The public is advised to be careful purchasing tickets from individuals they do not know personally, as such tickets may be void and in such cases admission to the theatre will be denied without compensation.

Standing Room: All persons entering the theatre must have a valid ticket, and are not allowed to stand in the back or aisles.

Volunteer/Ushers: THT uses a dedicated and trained force of volunteer ushers that seat and assist our guests. If you would like to volunteer, please email volunteer@thehanovertheatre.org.
