Interview by The Heat Seekers

How did you get started in the music industry?

Weboth grew up singing in the church. When we started to get invitations to share our gifts beyond the four walls of our home churches, we knew had something God wanted us to take to the nations.

Were there any challenges when you distributed your first song?

Distribution is easy, getting people to listen and support is where the challenge comes from. Your sound has to compete with everything else that is out, and there is a lot of great music. Standing out becomes the grind.

Where does your creativity come from?

Listening to a lot of music and be willing to be inspired by everything musical and non-musical. Inspiration is around us everywhere if we pay attention.

What are your writing techniques like for songs?

There are hits that have stood the test of time. The format has been established. We’ve studied it and then infused our sound into the format. Real life makes for good stories to tell.

Tell me a little bit more about the awards you’ve won?

Our album “One Touch” garnered us a 2020 Kingdom Image Award Best Album of the Year and a 2020 Rhythm of Gospel Award for Best Packaging. This year, we received the Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the Dunamis Gospel Awards.

How many songs have you written so far and when can we expect your next album?

Between the two of us we have about 50 songs released, all written by us. We have started writing the next album but will probably drop a few more singles before the album drops. People are rocking with us but there is a big world out here we want to introduce our sound to. When the demand is there, we’ll drop an album.

As an indie songwriter, do you face any challenges with publishing?

Most independents don’t really understand the world of publishing. You’re told to register with a PRO but how to make money with them. We’ve been blessed to have songs appear on radio charts and now have a couple of songs in films. It’s a process, but we and willing to do the work.

What is your take on musicians supporting other musicians?

I rock with everybody until they give me a reason not to and even then, I’ll support. It takes guts to put yourself and sound out there. I respect the effort that goes into it.

Who is your favorite artist (s) and why?

We love David and Tamala Mann. They are doing some amazing things and we one day hope to connect with them on a project, couples tour or something of that sort.

Tell us about the song that played on the soap opera General Hospital?

James Patrick Stuart, an Emmy Award Nominee, featured the couple’s “soultry vocals” on his record “Can You Feel Me,” which he performed on ABC’s General Hospital. He reached out to us under an alias to work on the song. When we finished, he revealed to us he was apart cast of the show and would sing it during the Nurses ball.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists wanting to write and perform music?

Keep going and when you feel like stopping, don’t. You’ll never get to where you want to be if you stop.

What do you enjoy doing on your spare time when you aren’t writing, singing, or playing?

We enjoying playing with our kids, Daveah, David Jr., and Amiyah. They all and beginning to have develop their own interests and we will be there to support and push them in all of their endeavors.

How many instruments do you play and how long have you been musically inclined?

David (starting playing in church at age 13) voice, keyboard, organ, and drums- acoustic guitar just not in public lol. Tiffanyvoice, piano- but not in public lol. We’ve both been singing as long as we can remember.
