DEAR FRIENDS,
Advertisement
Thank you so much for participating in this event to raise money and awareness for Legacy of Hope. Your coming out tonight proves there is an awareness within our community and beyond for the necessities of healthcare in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
Tonight we come together for South Dallas, not only for ourselves and our neighbors, but also for future generations. Your efforts to help revitalize Forest Hospital, now known as Legacy of Hope, will bring healthcare services to so many in this community. This project will serve as the blueprint for future Legacies of Hope in other communities. We are so grateful that you are a part of this project. Your invaluable contribution ensures that The Help Show will continue to grow and partner alongside this and future projects. As we enter the final months of 2021, The Help Show is gearing up to give back to the community in a big way.
This month, The Help Show has partnered with Legacy of Hope’s Dr. Michelle Morgan, DDS, for our Party with a Purpose 2021 Rollathon on October 22. Our goal is to raise funds for a new community health center and a Help Show app designed to connect residents to healthcare professionals within the community. Dr. Morgan is a Dallas native whose passion for affordable, local healthcare is evident: she has owned and operated four dental practices in Dallas for over twenty-five years.
Our mission is to renovate and re-open the original site of the Forest Avenue Hospital, which was once one of Dallas’s six Black-owned and operated hospitals. Dr. Morgan and The Help Show are raising funds to refashion this piece of local history into a modern healthcare facility. As a friend and listener of The Help Show, you understand that mental health and wellness are top priorities. And we want to offer you as many opportunities to get involved as possible. This fundraiser is not limited to donations alone; The Help Show has set up support for Peer-to-Peer groups, vendors, and sponsorship packages. We are also offering an exclusive opportunity to be a partner with The Help Show. If you are interested in sponsoring upcoming events or partnering with The Help Show, contact NiEtta@thehelpshow.org to receive additional information.
The Help Show’s Board of Directors thank you for your time. We appreciate your involvement in the Help Show and hope that you will continue to support us as we move forward.
Sincerely,
NiEtta A. Reynolds Director, The Help Show® A 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization (972) 765-2627 NiEtta@thehelpshow.org
DR. E. MICHELLE MORGAN, DDS Art of Dentistry
Dr. Michelle Morgan is a native Dallasite with solid roots in South Dallas and believes that equitable, comprehensive healthcare is a right, not a privilege. While running a successful dental practice, Dr. Morgan has made it her life's work to envision, fundraise, rebuild, and open the state-of-the-art Legacy of Hope Wellness Center on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Dr. Morgan purchased the site of the former Forest Hospital, the only healthcare facility in Dallas that was available to African Americans. Morgan was a preschooler when the two-story Forest Hospital opened in 1964, and it closed in 1984. While noting it might sound quixotic, she can't shake the idea that the neighborhood, so pitifully void of health services now, could rise to its old glory.
Dr. Morgan attended local elementary schools, including Charles Rice and Pearl C. Anderson, and graduated from Kimball High School in 1977. She attended Southern Methodist University on a full scholarship. After graduating, she attended Baylor College of Dentistry, where she also taught for seven years. The St. Luke Community United Methodist Church member has owned and operated several dental practices in Dallas. She owned and sold to one of her students the office of the late, prominent Dr. Emmett Conrad on Malcolm X Boulevard. Home base now is her Art of Dentistry office on Pleasant Run Road in DeSoto.
