2017 - The Journey Begins
What We Will Do
Created due to a life-changing personal experience of our founder, The Help Show has been a journey of discovery into the more profound aspects of a fundamental problem that remains ingrained in the fabrics of society. The bold step of starting a podcast created an access channel to community mental health resources, and it sparked a movement of passionate and dedicated individuals working diligently to ensure better mental health for everyone.
The Help Show is premised upon a monthly podcast hosted by our founder, NiEtta Reynolds. Co-hosting the podcast is a prominent psychiatrist in Dallas, Texas who provides expert opinions on topics spanning across general health care, management of health care issues, and the role of the community in caring for those with mental health concerns. The podcast also features various guest speakers who are experts on the mental health topic to be addressed on each show.
In corroborating the efforts made by the podcast, we leverage our synergy with other significant stakeholders in the mental health care field, ranging from policymakers, educational institutions, counselors, and other mental health professionals and hospitals, all passionately driven in support of our mental wellness goals.
Partnering with The Help Show are several institutions of higher education, counselors, and mental health professionals who also have the aim of lending helping hands to students suffering from various mental issues, as well as victims of abuse.
It all started when our founder, NiEtta Reynolds, lost her friend to suicide. This inspired her to create a community that offers resources and support to individuals who are losing hope for a better future. The movement started with the aim of merely leveraging education and advocacy to prevent at least just one more suicide, and it has grown to help disadvantaged people in all walks of life with various other mental health care concerns. Since its 2016 inception, The Help Show has worked assiduously in intimating the community with the mental health resources while laying profound emphasis on showing the community when and how to get needed help for themselves or their distressed family members and friends. The primary focus of The Help Show revolves around the Dallas community - a region with minority groups that are highly susceptible to diverse socio-cultural and economic problems. The inherent difficulties in these communities leave individuals prone to homelessness and depression, both of which are preceding conditions to suicide ideation. However, these issues are not unique to the Dallas community, and The Help Show is currently expanding its reach throughout the United States. To this effect, The Help Show not only complements the government's effort in the creation of support institutions, but it also fosters connection between the community and its members to original, engaging content that enhances the exploration and understanding of mental health care and resources.

Projects under development in furthering The Help Show's mission include the establishment of a chapter of The Help Show at various post-secondary institutions of higher learning, which will help reduce the stigma associated with ongoing mental healthcare. These chapters will also be charged with the critical function of developing young adults who are passionate about being ambassadors of mental health within their communities. Furthermore, we have initiated work with policymakers to bolster the creation of policies that are geared toward the implementation of best practice policies that strengthen mental health resources and services, locally and throughout the United States. We aim to achieve this through in-depth research and critical impact analysis programs. In the previous year, The Help Show was assisted over 100 people in the Dallas community by addressing their individual mental health care needs, and we will experience a geometric increase this year and beyond due to the ongoing development of our programs. Since it was established in 2016, The Help Show has directly impacted over 9,000 lives, with our primary source of funding from the founder due to her immense passion and resolve to drastically reduce suicide cases, domestic abuse, and other adverse impacts of mental health problems. The organization is intentional about growth and reaching more people, with the only limiting factor being inadequate funding for scaling our reach to people in dire need of mental health support.
