The remainder of the General Executive roles are being held in a separate election. The nomination period for this closes on Tuesday 15th of March. All four of the candidates that were running for the paid positions stated that they would run for the general exec. officer roles. The new format of the election allows for those candidates to apply for a general role as there is a one day overlap before the nomination period closes.

This year saw the change of the Vice President role, with the additional responsibilities of Academic Affairs added to the position, giving the new title of Vice President Academic (VPA). With a win by one vote, Mawia Ahmad claimed the position of VPA with 38 of 82 valid VPA votes, receiving 46.34% of the vote. The current Vice President, Stefan
The total votes cast in the election was 89, which makes up 19% of the 446 eligible students able to vote. This is a 3% decrease from last year’s turnout at the by-election which received a 22% turnout. However, it remains almost twice as many received than for the first election for the sabbatical roles last year which ended with a 10.6% voter turnout, showing a significant rise for this year’s election.

The Heythrop Student’s Union Presidential and Vice-President Academic election results were announced on the 14th of March at 1:30pm. The results saw Henry Edwards-Xu elected as the new President with Mawia Ahmed just scraping a win to secure the VPA position. Henry Edwards-Xu won the position of President with 42 of the 88 valid votes for President, meaning he received 47.73% of the vote. RON came second, ahead of third place candidate Dan Tobin, with RON receiving 25 votes equating to 28.41% of Presidential votes cast, and Dan Tobin receiving 21 votes which equates to 23.86%. There was only one spoilt paper in the Presidential vote.
Barratt, received 37 votes, 45.12%, with the smallest margin loss possible. RON received 7 votes making up 8.54% of VPA votes cast. There were 7 spoilt papers for the position of VPA.
