WELCOME Zetas and Amicae

This year, Delta Kappa Zeta focused on intentionality. We have been intentional about the needs of the High Point community and our sisterhood. As we all come together to stabilize and rise from a pandemic that has shaken all of us, we were challenged, like many, to think critically, care deeply and serve selflessly. The honorable Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr once stated that we must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope. It seems like these days we are all too familiar with disappointment, especially as our centennial year was affected by COVID-19.

Amidst the challenges we have all faced, DKZ collectively found ways to continue to serve. We met critical community needs, distributed PPE, provided meals, and expanded our health equity work. We have transformed and pivoted our in-person events and learned how to provide our messages through our virtual Town Halls. I’m thankful that DKZ has been able to continue to support our community through innovation and flexibility, which is what makes us #ADifferentKindofZeta. As we always have and will continue to do, we answered the call of Zeta when our community needed us the most. DENEEN "DEANIE" CLARKE President, 2020-2022 Delta Kappa Zeta

Sisterhood: More than a Member

Finer Womanhood: Embracing Our Differences

We join as members and became sisters through the Delta Kappa Zeta chapter. As sisters, we laugh, cry and engage in meaningful conversations.

The journey of womanhood can sometimes be lonely when we recognize differences; however, as Zetas we embrace the path to self-love and discovery .

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

SCHOLARSHIP In the year of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated’s centennial celebration, the Delta Kappa Zeta chapter was honored to establish our inaugural scholarship award, The Childs-Halsey Educational Promise Scholarship. This annual scholarship is named in honor of two of our chapter members, Dorothy Childs and Ruth Halsey, who have dedicated their lives to educating K-12 students in Guilford County, North Carolina. Honored as Zeta Doves, these phenomenal women have also dedicated over 50 years of continuous service to the sorority and serving their communities. Consistent with the founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood the Delta Kappa Zeta Chapter will award a scholarship to two college-bound African American high school female students. The scholarships are a one-time award of $500 for anticipated full-time study during the 2021-2022 academic year. Scholarship funds will be remitted to the selected finalists once college enrollment is presented to the chapter.

10 SISTERHOOD

Sisterhood is more than being a member of Zeta Phi Beta, it's sisterly love, too. On January 23, 1950, seven women envisioned greatness for the city of High Point, NC, and chartered the Delta Kappa Zeta chapter. On February 8, 2008, nearly 58 years later, six women re-activated DKZ. Currently, with 38 members and personalities, DKZ prides itself in demonstrating sisterly love beyond chapter meetings and events.

11 SISTERHOOD

"SISTERHOOD IS ONE OF A KIND"

In the age of the pandemic, our chapter had to be creative when fostering our principle of SISTERHOOD. Who would have thought our last time in person with our sisters would be during the 2020 Regional Conference. With the aide of ZOOM, we're able to virtually be with our sisters whether it was for breakfast, a Paint-NSip, Founders' Day, Chapter Charter Day, or conferences.
