Keep Reading All Summer Long...

and Earn Prizes!

It’s an Ocean of Possibilities at the Siouxland Libraries this summer! Families in the Siouxland area can participate in the 2022 free summer reading program and activities at your local library.

Parents can help students avoid “the summer slide” by encouraging children to read throughout the summer. The summer reading program can be a family affair because there is a program for all ages. Age groups include Birth-5, K-5th, Teens, and Adults. The program starts on June 3, with a kick-off party at the Downtown library from 6:30-8:00 and ends on August 12.

The Birth-5 program’s criteria are to read 100 books the entire summer for a prize and a raffle entry for a grand prize drawing. For the K-5th program, students are to read 100 minutes a week (20 minutes a day; 5 days a week) for the ten weeks of summer. Earn prizes along the way and a finisher’s award for reading all summer. Students will also earn raffles for our grand prize drawings, including Magnetic Tiles, Sand Art Kits, and Legos.

In addition to the reading programs, the libraries have traveling programs and storytimes at various locations throughout the summer, special performers including jugglers and a kids’ musician, and visits from the Zoomobile. And it’s all FREE!

A few upcoming events include: • Absolute Science – Brandon Library, June 1 at 10:30 am • Ocean in Motion – Brandon Library, June 22 at 10:30 am • Jugglers Jay & Leslie – Downtown Library,

June 24 at 11 am • Children’s Musician Will Parker – Downtown Library,

July 19 at 2 pm
