REV. TAMIE DENYSE

Co-Founder & President of Carrie’s TOUCH Rev. Tammie is co-founder and president of Carrie’s TOUCH, a 501(c)3 nonprofit breast cancer organization established to enrich the lives of African American women diagnosed with the disease. She is a 15- year breast cancer survivor and has spent the past 13 years coaching cancer patients and their families through the trauma of a cancer diagnosis, treatment and re-entry after a journey through cancer. She is recognized as an expert in the field of breast cancer and black women and is the Co-Principal Investigator for Project SOAR (Speaking Our African American Realities) in partnership with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Project SOAR examines the unique experiences of African American women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Rev. Tammie’s work has been recognized locally, nationally and globally for its innovative approaches to breast cancer survivorship and overall wellness.

CHRISTINA ELMORE

Film, Television and Theater Performer Christina Elmore is a film, television and theater performer living and working in Los Angeles. With an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a MFA in acting from American Conservatory Theater, Christina has performed roles across all genres. After five seasons as a series regular on TNT’s hit series, The Last Ship, she now stars as Marie in Lena Waithe’s newest scripted series, Twenties, on BET. She has a recurring role as Condola on HBO’s Insecure and can be seen in Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, Lady Bouncer on HBO and the CBS pilot, Under the Bridge. Her favorite roles in the theater include Juliet at Los Angeles Shakespeare Company and Monique in theworld premiere of Adam Rapp’s “The Purple Lights of Joppa Illinois” at South Coast Rep. She is repped by SDB Partners and Hansen, Jacobsen, Teller et.al.

ASHLEY GARNER

Outreach Coordinator, California Housing Finance Agency Ashley Garner is an Outreach Coordinator for the California Housing Finance Agency. In her 8 years at CalHFA, Garner has worked in loan servicing, marketing and event management. She is a licensed real estate agent and small business owner.

DR. KRISTEE HAGGINS

Psychologist & Professor Dr. Kristee Haggins is community healer, African-centered psychologist and professor who takes a holistic approach to healing mind, body, spirit and community. For over 25 years, she has focused on Black mental health and wellness, noting the impact of racial stress and trauma on Black bodies. Dr. Kristee teaches doctoral level courses in multicultural counseling and therapy skills, helping to develop culturally competent future psychologists. She consults with and provides trainings to agencies and organizations and provides monthly community healing circles for people of African ancestry. Dr. Kristee is a founding member of Safe Black Space and a trainer for Emotional Emancipation Circles (EEC).

MONICA HILL

President of California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB) Monica Hill is the Broker/Owner of MVP Real Estate & Investments LLC. A Small, Woman Owned, Minority Owned Business and Serves as the CEO of the Non-profit Women’s Support Organization Mission Excel. Monica has been licensed in California for more than 25 years and runs a highly successful team of Certified, Licensed Commercial and Residential Full Service Real Estate Professionals know as “The Dream Team”. Monica currently services as the 2020 President of the California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB®). She is one of only 3 female who have served as Presidents over CAREB’s 65 year history. Her past services include 4 years as the President of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB®) Inland Empire Chapter (IEAOR), 1 year as 3rd Vice-President over Education, 2 years as the 2nd Vice President over Membership and Sponsorship 3 years on the Board of Directors for The California Association of Real Estate Brokers (CAREB ®).

KULA KOENIG

Activist, Director of Impact at United Way California Capital Region Kula Koenig is an activist. She has been that way since she started collecting money from the residents of her apartment complex for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in junior high school. Currently, she serves as Director of Impact for the United Way California Capital

Region directing the Square One project – an initiative to end poverty through education. Prior to her role at the United Way, Kula was Government Relations Director for the American Heart Association and District Director for former Assemblymember Roger Dickinson. Her background is in community organizing, policy advocacy, strategic outreach, and fundraising. She loves being of service to her community and just recently launched the Social Justice PolitiCorps for Sac County (socialjusticesac.org) to crowdsource political information. Kula serves as president of the Sacramento chapter of Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA) and is passionate about black women being in positions to influence policy. She loves deadlifts, craves her mom’s Liberian cooking and leads with her heart.

KEISHA MATHEWS

Broker/Owner/CEO Keisha “Kee” Mathews, Broker/Owner/CEO - With over 16 years in real estate, Keisha “Kee” Mathews is broker and owner of real estate firm Mathews & Co. Realty Group (MCRG) and Urban Core Rentals Property Management. She recently re-ignited her first passion, communications opening her third business Kee Comm Media. She has an intense passion to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Her professionalism, work ethic, designations, extensive marketing, graphic design, communications, and construction background all give her an advantage that anyone she represents benefits from and deeply appreciates.

KIM MIMS

ADOS Activist Kim Mims is an ADOS Activist, Access Sacramento Board – Vice Chair, Programming Chair Kim holds an associate degree in Television Production from Consumnes River College and bachelor’s degree in Communications from Sacramento State University. Post-graduation, Kim worked as coordinator with the Sacramento Film Commission. Subsequently she worked in a communications production capacity for California Bountiful TV. Kim’s work in agriculture inspired Sacramento’s entire Farm to Fork brand. Currently, Kim is an active member of American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) Sacramento chapter and co-founder of ADOS CA MEDIA YouTube channel. An avid ADOS activist Kim attended every AB3121 California Reparations, Task Force hearing and testified before Congress about persistent systemic racism in Sacramento.

JOY OFODU

Associate Brand Marketing Manager at Instagram & SF-based Portraitist

Joy Ofodu’s mission in life is to empower on/offline communities. As an Associate Brand Marketing Manager, she has been recognized as one to watch in the marketing and technology industry, centering Black people and girls in her programs, mentorship, art and digital content. Her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Refinery 29, Afropunk, People, AdWeek, Blavity and more. She is also a proud alumna of USC’s African American Cinema Society and Annenberg Inclusion Initiative.

LORREEN PRYOR

California State Assembly-Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection /Committee Secretary & President of Black Youth Leadership Project

Born in Vallejo, California and an alumnae of Sacramento State University, Lorreen is a 15-year veteran legislative staffer and the servant leader/ president of Black Youth Leadership Project (BYLP). BYLP provides civic engagement opportunities, hand-on experience of learning the legislative process, and exposure legislators, community leaders and key staff. Lorreen leads the team that puts on the Legislative Open House and Next Level Luncheon experience for more than 100 Black students annually; Summer Social Justice Bootcamp, established Sacramento’s first-ever Black High School Graduation in partnership with the Faith Based Community; created five Support Networks to help the community cope with the recent uprisings; provided community movie nights, created an online documentary club; as well as works with families and local school districts to resolve issues stemming from racial targeting, teacher bias and disparate treatment to restore the child so they can thrive in a more supportive environment. Additionally, Lorreen was honored with the California Association of Black Lawyers 2019 Civil Rights Activist Award for her “advocacy on behalf of our youth.” Lorreen and her sister just recently launched Pryor & Pryor Consulting.

DOMINIQUE POYDRAS

Founder and Executive Director of The Hope Foundation Dominique is the Executive Director and Founder of the nonprofit, The Hope Foundation. Her program provides temporary housing to women transitioning out of homelessness, mentoring, financial literacy, and other supportive services, as well as providing a baby clothes service to hundreds of children per month. Surviving 10 years of sexual trauma, drugs, physical and mental abuse gave her the experience needed to walk a journey of service and help others heal from and escape from the traumas that she had endured. She has dedicated over 20 years of her life opening her home doors, mentoring, counseling, and advocating for hundred of ladies that have crossed her path. It is no accident that she started a nonprofit organization in 2015 that helps families. Dominique created Hey Sis: Sisters Inspiring Sisters. Hey Sis is a movement for women by women. It is a place to share inspiration, educate on the topics of health/wellness, financial literacy, healing, and building and maintaining healthy relationships. Moreover, Hey Sis provides space for women to share their businesses and business ideas. We provide public events for women who need a platform to show off their gifts and talents.

GINA ROBERSON

Chief Program Officer at Weave Gina Roberson is WEAVE’s Chief Program Officer overseeing Advocacy and Intervention Services Programs including Residential and Crisis Response Services. Gina has more than 20 years in the Violence Prevention field starting with developing and administering funding for Domestic Violence and Child Abuse programs with the California Governor’s Office of Criminal Justice Planning. Prior to joining WEAVE she served as the Associate Executive Director of the Health Education Council and as the Associate Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Center. Gina holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Law & Society from UC Santa Barbara.

ALONDRA L. THOMPSON, LCSW

Behavioral Director for One Community Health Alondra Thompson, LCSW is the Behavioral Director for One Community Health. She works with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples’ counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, Alondra offers a highly personalized approach tailored to each of her clients’ individual needs to help attain the personal growth they are striving for. Ms. Thompson’s interventions include Trauma Resiliency Model, NeuroAffective Relational Model, and Motivational Interviewing. She works at a community clinic in Sacramento County, has a private practice in Sacramento, California and Berkeley, CA. She provides consultation services to community-based organizations, schools, universities, and other public and private institutions.

ZORITHA THOMPSON

CEO & Real Estate Broker Zoritha Thompson is the CEO/Broker of Goree and Thompson Real Estate, Inc. Zoritha has been in the real estate field for over 23 years, she is currently the Treasurer of the Sacramento Realtist Association and serves on the board of Directors of the California Association of Real Estate Brokers.

ROLANDA ALLAHA WILKINS

Founder, Director at Earth Mama Healing RoLanda Allaha Wilkins is an innovative program administrator, global community organizer and traditional ceremonial leader. For over 25 years she continues to work in the areas of adolescent\women health and wellness; specializing in youth development and leadership, international health & wellness, outreach, resources identification, communication, and media productions. She has worked throughout the United States, Canada, Cuba, Ghana, Honduras, Haiti, Jamaica, Nigeria, and South Africa. She is the founder & Executive Director of Earth Mama Healing, Inc., which is home to Nurtured Girls, Empowered Women Institute for the empowerment and leadership enrichment for girls and women. Her impactful programs are: Wii (We Inspire) Girl, Queens Rising, Dream Academy, Mother

Founder of A Total Starr Collection Boutique Jessica Whatley is the Co-Creator of Tea Talk Tuesdays talk show and founder of A Total Starr Collection Boutique. As a former fashion and commercial print model, she was featured in several magazines including Home and Life Style. Her passion for fashion and love for business and people led her into opening her very first Boutique, “Jessica’s Fashion” in Stockton, Ca. Although the 2008 recession took a toll and forced it’s closure, her love for Fashion didn’t end there. After years in the corporate world, Jessica decided it was time to level up, and as a result she created her trendy highly anticipated online boutique, A Total Starr Collection, which will be released late fall of 2020.

KEZIA WILLIAMS

CEO & Founder of Black Upstart Kezia Williams is the CEO at Black upStart - cultivating the largest national, educational campus benefiting early stage Black entrepreneurs. As CEO of the Black upstart, Kezia leads a team of talented professionals to train early stage African-American entrepreneurs interested in starting job creating, bankable small businesses. To date Black upStart has trained nearly 200 small business creators in Washington, DC; Brooklyn, NY; Raleigh, NC; Durham, NC and Baltimore, Maryland and engaged a network of over 66,000 African-American creatives, entrepreneurs and innovators via our social media platforms. Forty-one percent (41%) of the program graduates are still in business, 50% of them are employers.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley is the perfect example of an Exceptional Woman of Color in 2020. She is BOLD bringing a positive prominent character to any arena in which she stands advocating for justice, equity, and opportunity for all. She is COURAGEOUS standing with grace and conviction as she serves Massachusetts most diverse and unequal district in the state while proudly speaking to power across the nation declaring Black Lives Matter. She is EXCEPTIONAL and a role model for young and older women as she stands for eliminating violence against women and changing Americas antiquated and hurtful cultural norms of beauty supporting the CROWN ACT and raising awareness on Alopecia Areata. Learning about her vision of our communities, how we can get there together, and her personal Washington, DC, USA - August 28, experiences as a woman of color 2020: US Congresswoman Ayanna is clearly why we have declared Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley as our EWOC 2020 Champion. Pressley walks from the podium after speaking during the Commitment March on Washington for racial equality and justice. She states: “Every single person deserves to show up in the world, exactly as they are, without fear or discrimination. To my fellow Alopecians, wherever you may be. Today, I bring our stories to the floor of the People’s House. To say that we belong. Our stories deserve to be heard. HUNDREDS UNIT

The Hundreds Unit is a diverse network of hundreds of women who work out collectively for 6-8 weeks, to perform at professional events. What makes the women of Hundreds Unit unique is that they consist of ALL shapes, sizes, ages, and levels of ability, dancing as one UNIT in their own unique way! The events that are secured, are venues that are exciting and draw hundreds and thousands of people. The idea behind this is that in addition to our participants being drawn to the opportunity to perform on such platforms, it also inspires them to commit to the entirety of our 6-8 week dance and fitness program, through a massive accountability group, performing in numbers of 50 to well over 100 women. This process exposes the women of the Unit to different workout regimens, it encourages them to strive to accomplish their health and wellness goals regardless of how they presently may feel about themselves, and provides networking opportunities within the Unit, as the group encompasses women from different backgrounds and careers. Essentially this program is designed to nurture the mind, body, and soul, long term, through empowerment provided through our Units. Hundreds Unit is changing the lives of these women, by providing them with extraordinary experiences and opportunities that they would otherwise only dream of having. The Hundreds Unit concept was birthed by Venetia James in 2016, and has been featured several times at the Sacramento Kings games, V101.1 Concerts held at the Golden 1 Center and Thunder Valley. River Cats, Sac Republic, California State Fair, Cal Expo, 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, Black Women United marches, Black Joy Parade in Oakland, California, and many more events and television features! In October 2019 the group was the show opener at the Exceptional Women of Color’s 11th annual celebration at the Mondavi Center at UC Davis, as well as debuted at the Warriors game in the new Chase Center in San Francisco on the group’s anniversary day, Saturday, January 4, 2020! Just recently in September 2020 Hundreds Unit was selected as one of the top 5 FINALISTS in the Republic FC Kickstart Black-owned business contest and is in the running for a $5,000 grant opportunity. Hundreds Unit, in addition to being proud of their accomplishments, anticipates expansion of its movement both locally, and nationally!

The website (launched in March 2002) and magazine (published in February 2006) are leading sources of Black urban media that celebrate the urban lifestyle of AfricanAmericans in the capital region and throughout California serving as the information hub for black-oriented movies, concerts, theatrical performances, art exhibitions, sporting events, festivals and black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. She is also the owner of PR & Associates Business Resources Resources (AKA Sacculturalhub.com Media Company) which is an advertisement and public promotions agency specializing in providing multi-media advertising, social media marketing campaigns, e-blast ad/website production and consultation to new business and startup organizations. She also serves as the Executive Director for the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation that educates, empowers, and train young adults and women of color in underserved communities. Several programs under the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation include: Exceptional Women of Color Conference; Hub Choice Awards Show; Black Physicians Forum (BPF); BPF Medical Student Scholarship Program; Young Exceptional Women of Color (Y-EWOC) Scholarship Competition, and the Young/Youth Women’s Summit (YWS). For 3 years, Pleshette served as a Covered California Enrollment Counselor and Outreach Educator. Pleshette has received numerous awards that include: MLK Unsung Hero Award Recipient of the 9th Assembly District presented by the California Legislative Black Caucus in January 2018, Entrepreneur of The Year presented by Calvary Christian Center’s Genesis School of Business & Entrepreneurship in December 2017, Martin Luther King Jr. Difference Maker Award for Service and Advocacy in January 2016, NAWBO OWL Wise Woman (a.k.a. Business Woman of the Year) in October 2015; BWOPA-PAC Ella Hill Hutch Award in November 2013, UC Davis Chancellor’s Achievement Awards For Diversity and Community in the Community Award category in February 2013; Business Award from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Sacramento Chapter in November 2009; “Women of Excellence” from the Sacramento Kappa Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in March 2008. Pleshette was featured in the August 2007 issue on her personal style and noteworthy achievements in the Sacramento magazine. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from San Jose State University. Pleshette loves and celebrates her extended family while she is the proud mother of three daughters and also has six grandsons. VICKI BLAKELY holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration/ Management where she worked for various hospitals and clinics throughout Southern and Northern California as a Regional Manager. Vicki is currently studying for her Real Estate License. She also owns “Cheake Enterprises” a family company that specializes in Real Estate Investments and Wireless products. Vicki also serves on the Board of Black Wealth Matters as the Board Secretary and on the Hospitality Committee for the Sac Realtist. Vicki joined the staff of Sac Cultural Hub in the Fall of 2009 and is the Administrative Manager working on special grant projects and activities.

The word that best describes MICHAEL BLAIR is community. Michael serves as Chief Innovation Officer at Neighborhood Innovation Project, a community economic development company that focuses on wealth building education and other community benefit advancement initiatives. As a community leader, Michael works closely with public officials on City, County and State level think tanks and commissions to create solutions for community-wide public challenges. A proud alum from California State University Sacramento, Michael holds a double bachelor’s degree in business management. In addition to an extensive background in Marketing and Brand building for numerous companies throughout Northern California. Michael has also worked professionally in Human Resources specializing in Corporate Recruiting and Employee Relations for fortune 500 companies in both the Information Technology and Healthcare sectors for almost 20 years. After over 20 years in broadcasting, print media, and public relations, MICHAEL P. COLEMAN relocated from Detroit in 2010 to write the latest chapter in his career: Coleman Communications. He regularly delivers feature articles to a variety of print and online platforms, including Jet Magazine, EURweb.com, and Uptown Magazine. Coleman Communications also provides consultation on brand management, event planning & execution, and fund development/sales to corporations and small businesses. Coleman has earned a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors and Distinction in Communication from the University of Michigan, and he’s working on achieving fluency in Spanish.

TWLIA LASTER is the owner of Twlia Makes It Happen! Consulting Service. Ms. Laster has 20 years of experience in providing consulting services to clients in need of strategic marketing, program development, public relations, event management, health education, and smoking cessation facilitation. For the past nine years Ms. Laster has served as the Strategic Marketing and Project Director for Sac Cultural Hub Media Company directly engaged in increasing overall company revenue by revamping the marketing model, developing programs, solidifying corporate and community partnerships. Additionally, Ms. Laster is the Project Director of Saving Our Legacy, African Americans for Smoke Free Safe Places – The SOL Project, and serves on several public health advisory committees throughout Northern California.

She develops strategic alliances to conduct campaigns that increase knowledge and encourage individuals and communities to take action to reduce their risk for disease. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine with an emphasis in Psychology and Social Behavior. Valarie also serves as Program Development Manager for the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation.

LESLEY LEATHERWOOD is the CEO of Leatherwood Marketing, and specializes in national internet marketing and print advertising. She possesses over 20 years of corporate experience, including inside and outside sales, hospitality, public relations, media buying, production assistant in television and four feature films. She is an expert with consulting on promoting, advertising, telemarketing products, events and photography. Lesley is originally from Cardiff Wales, England. Lesley has been with Sac Cultural Hub Media Company since 2008 and serves as the Community Advertising Manager.

DONNA RAMOS writes several multicultural novels simultaneously. Her journalism career as a Senior Staff Writer/Reporter for THE HUB Magazine writes multi-cultural novels and her journalism career as a Senior Staff Writer for THE HUB Magazine has yielded interviews with Maxwell, Venus and Serena Williams and HRH Sarah Ferguson Duchess of York, to name a few. As a self-published author, Ramos received acclaim from Essence Magazine and BlackbookPlus.com for her contemporary romance book “HIGH RISE”. “M&M, Madness and Mayhem”, the final book in her HIGH RISE Trilogy, was released in 2013.

VALARIE SCRUGGS is the Health Equity Manager at One Community Health where she designs programs to reduce health disparities by educating the public on health insurance and managing overall health. She is also owner of VisionStep, a consultant business

Tea Talk Tuesdays

Tea Talk Tuesdays, hosted by Neketia Henry and Jessica Whatley, is a fun talk show that brings everyone together from all over the country in a virtual setting, simply to have a good time and raise awareness of certain issues within urban communities. The platform targets the urban female and male audiences with a demographic range from ages 18-60 where it is all about engaging, interacting, and empowering their viewers.
