WE ARE SO GLAD YOU JOINED THE JOURNEY

Sarah & I are so honored that you have decided to take this journey with us as we seek God to further understand our purpose and learn what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We have all been called into action & God wants to meet each of us where we are at!! Some of us might be going through a storm, or earthquake or fire – some of us might be in a season of rest or in a desert place, wherever you are at in your walk with God, one thing is for sure – HE IS THERE! He loves you endlessly and His thoughts are for you, not against you. Over the next 40 days we will be reading scriptures that will reset our minds and challenge us to get out of our comfort zones. To truly be used by God is an honor –even if it makes us a bit uncomfortable. We look hearing from you as we walk this journey together. Please feel free to post in our private facebook group – your thoughts, your prayers & encouragement as God leads you.

Stronger together, Sarah & Laurie

God’s church is sacred!!

Ecclesiastes 5:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

3

5 [a]Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. 2 Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. 3 A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool.

The Dedication of the Temple

2 Chronicles 7:1-4 New International Version (NIV)

Day 4

7 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, “He is good; his love endures forever. 4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.

Ephesians 5:29-32 New International Version (NIV) 29 After all, no one ever

hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. two will become one flesh

5

This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 32

6 Ephesians 3:8-10 New International Version (NIV) 8 Although I am less than the least of

all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms

Ephesians 1:4-5 New International Version (NIV) 4 For he chose us

in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

WE ARE THE CHURCH In love 5 he[a] predestined us for adoption to sonship[b] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—

day eight

Ephesians 2:19-22 New International Version (NIV)

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. 19

Ephesians 4:11-16 New International Version (NIV) 11 So Christ himself gave

the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

11

14 Then we will no longer be infants,

tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

DAY 12

Galatians 2:20 New International Version (NIV) 20 I have been

crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV) 16 Don’t you know that you yourselves

are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

13

Revelation 5:13 New International Version (NIV) 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth

and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!

DAY 14

CHALLENGES AND ENCOURAGEMENT Ephesians 5:15-17 New International Version (NIV) 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise

but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

DAY 18

Hebrews 13:7 New International Version (NIV) 7 Remember your leaders,

who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the

outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

1 Thessalonians 2:5-12 New International Version (NIV) 5 You know we never used

day nineteen

flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness. 6 We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority. 7 Instead, we were like young children[a] among you. Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, 8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

Ephesians 5:18-21 New International Version (NIV) 18 Do not get drunk on

wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

20

day twenty-one

James 1:27 New International Version (NIV) 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

DAY 22

Revelation 3:19-21 New International Version (NIV) 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.

So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. 21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.

The Fellowship of the Believers Acts 2:42-47 New International Version (NIV) 42 They devoted themselves to

the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

1 John 4:7-12 New International Version (NIV) God’s Love and Ours 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us,we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

John 17:20-23 New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Prays for All Believers 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Acts 4:32-35 New International Version (NIV) The Believers Share Their Possessions 32 All

the believers were one in heart and mind. No

one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no

29

needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

DAY 32

Matthew 24:9-13 New International Version (NIV) 9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted

and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

day thirty-three

Luke 6:22-23, 26 New International Version (NIV) 22 Blessed are you when people hate you,

when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. 23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets. 26 Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

1 Peter 4:12-14 New International Version (NIV) Suffering for Being a Christian

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on

you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Romans 8:16-18 New International Version (NIV) 16 The Spirit himself testifies

with our spirit that we are God’s children. 1 7 Now if we are children, then we are heirs— heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Present Suffering and Future Glory 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Day thirty-five

DAY 36

Philippians 1:29-30 The Message (MSG) 27-30 Meanwhile, live in such a way that

you are a credit to the Message of Christ. Let nothing in your conduct hang on whether I come or not. Your conduct must be the same whether I show up to see things for myself or hear of it from a distance. Stand united, singular in vision, contending for people’s trust in the Message, the good news, not flinching or dodging in the slightest before the opposition. Your courage and unity will show them what they’re up against: defeat for them, victory for you—and both because of God. There’s far more to this life than trusting in Christ. There’s also suffering for him.And the suffering is as much a gift as the trusting. You’re involved in the same kind of struggle you saw me go through, on which you are now getting an updated report in this letter.
