REGISTERED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ON CAMPUS Engineers Without Borders, Page 6

FRO MT Dear Reader,

HE

First of all, I am thrilled that you have picked up a copy of The Independent! If you’re unfamiliar with us, allow me to get you caught up.

EDI

TO R’S D

The Indy is Fort Lewis College’s student-run news organization. In our early years we published print-only news, but have since broadened our platform to online and video media. We produce our own news magazine, create daily content for TheIndyOnline.com, and upload video news featurettes to YouTube as Fort Fuel. The Independent is also a news aggregate through its varied social media presences, sharing local, regional, and national news with the campus community. Our brilliant staff is comprised entirely of Fort Lewis College students, drawing from different departments campus-wide. Our primary mission—inform and entertain the student body with the news and information that they want and need.

For those of you who have picked us up before, I have some exciting news. We are reformatting our print publication! Effective this semester The Independent is a monthly publication, distributed the first Tuesday of each month. With this change, we have pushed to nearly double the page count and print in gorgeous full-color. What can you expect? A much more thorough and beautiful publication! Pick it up in any of the yellow boxes around campus. We want to produce news for YOU, and your participation is key. Pick us up and find us online, it lets us know that you care about what is happening on campus and around town. Don’t stop there, make us report on the news that you want. Hop onto our Facebook page or shoot us an email to give us a news tip or offer up some feedback. We are always looking for stories, and your suggestions go a long way. At the end of the day, The Independent is produced by students for students. And finally, if you want to get involved, stop by at the Ballantine Media Center and join! Cheers,

Trevor Ogborn Editor In Chief The Independent TheIndyOnline.com twogborn@fortlewis.edu 303-562-8541
