Doric Racing in Townsville

Doric has been involved with this event in Townsville since its very first edition in 2009, with plenty of highlights along the way.

Doric backed the pair of Paul Cruickshank Racing Ford Falcons for the debut event, as driven by Fabian Coulthard and Michael Patrizi (pictured, literally leaving the door wide open). Both drivers registered a best finish of 15th place from the two 200km races.

2010

Our backing in 2010 moved across to the James Rosenberg entry (as prepared by Stone Brothers Racing) with Tim Slade behind the wheel. Slade finished 12th in both races. James Moffat, meanwhile, was representing the brand in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series and ended the weekend with a best result of second, our first Townsville podium.

2011 Doric’s relationship with Will Davison kicked off in earnest. The Ford Performance Racing driver claimed third in the opening race, with his teammate Mark Winterbottom finishing in the same position on Sunday after scoring pole for the opening race.

2012 Doric backed Mark Winterbottom finished second in the opening race after starting from grid position one, while Will Davison came through to finish third in race two.

2013

Great success! One-two for Doric with Will Davison leading home Mark Winterbottom in the opening race, with Will’s victory burnout ending up in the concrete barrier! Mark claimed pole for the Sunday race as well.

2014 Doric backing followed Will Davison to Erebus Motorsport, where he scored his first podium for the AMG Mercedes squad in the opening race of the one-off three-race format. Chaz Mostert joined FPR, and scored a best race result of fifth, while Mark Winterbottom registered a top finish of sixth.

2015

The event returned to a two-race format, with Will Davison scoring a best result of 12th, while new Erebus teammate Ashley Walsh had a tougher time with a best finish of 22nd.

2016

Will Davison moved to the single-car Tekno Autosports squad and claimed a best finish of fifth place before winning that year’s Bathurst 1000.

2017

A more challenging outing for the team, with Will Davison having a best result of eighth on Sunday from 17th on the grid.

2018

Moving across the similarly single-car 23Red Racing, Will Davison had a best race finish of ninth aboard the team’s Falcon.

2019

The 23Red squad moved to be a part of the greater four-car Tickford Racing squad, with Will Davison having a best race finish of seventh.
