LEADING THE WAY AS A BEACON OF GLOBAL TALENT, THE BRITISH HAIRDRESSING INDUSTRY HONOURED A MYRIAD OF WORTHY HAIRDRESSERS AT THE 2022 BRITISH HAIRDRESSING AWARDS.

The 2022 winners of the esteemed British Hairdressing Awards were named in front of 1300 industry members, honouring the inspirational talent leading the way across the pond in the event’s 38th year.

The 2022 British Hairdressing Awards were hosted at the Grosvenor House Hotel, a JW Marriott hotel on London’s Park Lane and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. Festivities were hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, Hairdressers Journal International Executive Director, Jayne Lewis-Orr, and Schwarzkopf Professional General Manager for UK and Ireland, Julian Crane, with shows and entertainment showcased by both the brand and British Hairdresser of the Year finalists, as well as the singer Professor Green.

The awards were given in a myriad of creative and regional categories, with the pinnacle Hairdresser of the Year Award as the highlight. Entries are judged anonymously and independently by a 100-strong panel of hairdressing greats, editors, influencers and Hall of Fame members.

Cos Sakkas wins British Hairdresser of the Year

For 2022, Global Creative Director at TONI&GUY and LABEL.M Cos Sakkas was given the title of British Hairdresser of the Year, winning for the Vertigo collection, and leading a long list of talented award winners in this year’s competition. Cos is also the current recipient of International Hairdresser of the Year and is the first person to hold two prestigious titles of this calibre at the same time.

He has previously won London Hairdresser of the Year three times and team awards as part of the TONI&GUY Global Artistic Team. In 2022, he succeeded over tough competition, including Richard Ashcroft, Sally Brooks, Robert Easton, Gary Hooker & Michael Young, Lark Leeson and Angelo Seminara, to win the illustrious title.

“The finalists for British Hairdresser of the Year are some of the most talented stylists in the world, and it is an honour to win the award. While it was my name that was announced, this award is for the passionate people I work with every day and the amazing team who helped bring my vision to life,” Cos said. “All the British finalists created stunning collections and I am humbled that the industry has chosen me to fly the flag for the British industry. I will endeavour to use the title to continue to raise standards, encourage the next generation and promote British hairdressing around the world.”

For the relatively new title of International Collection of the Year, this year Australia’s own Jude McEwen from TONI&GUY Perth, Dee Parker Attwood from Wieselmann Salon and Jacky Chan from Oscar Oscar Chadstone, as well as New Zealand’s Danny Pato from D&M Hair Design, were all nominated as finalists. The award was won by Viktoriia Vradii of the Ukraine.

Congratulations to all the winners, listed on Styleicons.
