ADVERTORIAL: KEEPING FARMERS IN CONTROL

KEEPING FARMERS IN CONTROL

Kotzur is an Australian-owned and operated third-generation family business with 70 years of experience in the industry.

The 2023 harvest in NSW presented various challenges, from dry growing conditions to poorly timed rain events. With 70 years in the industry, Kotzur has worked to develop the knowledge and tools to increase harvest efficiency, protect grain quality and, ultimately, maximise return on investment.

On-farm grain storage and handling facilities can provide benefits such as increased harvest flexibility, allowing you to choose when to harvest based on weather conditions and other factors.

Rain events during harvest can negatively impact grain quality, leading to downgrades such as reduced test weight, low falling numbers, and discolouration. To prevent grain quality loss, Kotzur offers drying and cooling aeration systems, including fan control, that complement its storage and handling equipment.

Under appropriate seasonal conditions, Kotzur’s cooling aeration system allows crops to be harvested at up to 15 per cent moisture, while using their drying aeration system means that crops can potentially be harvested at up to 18 per cent moisture.

On-farm storage gives you greater control over grain marketing, allowing you to store grain for longer periods and sell when market conditions are favourable. With niche and local grain markets becoming increasingly important, on-farm storage allows grain blending for higher grades.

Kotzur staff can help design a system to suit your budget and business objectives. The right equipment and a well-thought-out plan will ensure that you maximise returns.
