The dream theme continues and this week we have Pharaoh having two dreams. The first talks of cows, the second of Ears of corn. He doesnt understand his dreams so the Butler remembers that there’s a Jewish lad in jail. The rush Yosef from the pit and bring him to Pharaoh. Yosef informs Pharaoh that there’ll be seven years of loads of food followed by seven years of famine. In the meantime they should store loads of food for the years of hunger. Pharaoh is amazed as Yosef’s brilliant ideas and then appoints him as second in command! The years pass and the famine strikes Egypt and the Holy Land and Yosef’s brothers come down to Egypt and bow down to Yosef. Yosef wanted to check that they’ll never repeat their harsh behaviour to a brother so he tests them. He pretends he doesn’t know who they are (and they actually did not know who he was either). He instructed his son to hide his goblet in Binyomin’s sack and when it was found there, he threatened to keep Binyomin as a slave. The brothers were completely shaken by this and, next week, Yehuda will tell Yosef exactly why it is impossible for him to return home without Binyomin! S W O C L S E D S V M K

“Ican’t believe it is almost Chanuka!” Hadassa said to Rivki as they passed by the local bakery. “Look at all the yummy doughnuts they have!”
Ima had sent them on a mission to get some more milk before Shabbos.
“Ooh I am so excited!” Rivki said as skipped along the street. “I wonder if we will get any presents.”
“Great Aunty Devorah is coming for our first night Chanuka party and she usually gives the best presents!” replied Hadassa.
Shabbos seemed to whizz by that week and all of a sudden it was Sunday morning! Time to get ready for Chanuka!
Already the smell of doughnuts and latkes frying in oil filled the streets. Queues were forming outside all the kosher bakeries in the town, everyone wanting to get the best doughnuts for Chanuka.
Rivki and Hadassa were having a lot of fun making Chanuka cards for their grandparents and of course, Great Aunt Devorah who would be coming over later that day.
Time flew by and it was only an hour until the party when Ima called to them.
“Hadassa, Rivki, I just realised that I forgot to get enough oil to light the Chanukia, please could you go out and get me some from Kosher Nation?”
It was pretty cold outside and the wind was howling, but you couldn’t light the Chanukia without oil; so Hadassa and Rivki hurriedly put on their hats, coats, scarves and gloves. They stepped outside into the street and started making their way up the road towards Kosher Nation.
It was a long, slow walk as rain and leaves battered the two girls, but they finally managed to make it to Kosher Nation.
“Phew!” said Hadassa “That was crazy out there, I hope it quietens down a bit before we have to walk back.” “At least we have a bit of time to spend here before we have to go back” replied Rivki. “Let’s go and get the oil for Ima and use the extra time to get little Chanuka presents for Yehudis and Shloime.”
Hadassa and Rivki first chose a bottle of olive oil for the Chanukia and then quickly found the Chanuka activity section.
“Wow” exclaimed Rivki. “Look at all these Chanuka activities and toys!”
“There is so much to choose from here,” said Hadassa. “What should we get for them?”
The next half an hour was spent in great enjoyment weighing up the pros and cons of each of the toys and activities. They didn’t have much money on them either so they were looking for small but toddler and baby friendly toys.
“I like this large dreidel-shaped torch.” Rivki said happily, putting in their basket. “I think Shloime will love it.”
“That’s such a good idea,” said Hadassa. “I think I’ll get the same for Yehudis, but I’ll get her the candle-shaped one so that they will know which one belongs to them.”
“To avoid any fighting!” Rivki said, smiling. “Good plan.”
Hadassa checked her watch. “Oh my goodness, we need to get going or Ima won’t have the oil for the Chanukia in time.”
Hadassa and Rivki rushed to the checkout.
“Could we pay for these please?” Hadassa said, handing over the money.
Quickly they packed everything into a bag and turned to the door. It slid open to reveal the freezing, stormy weather outside.
