Langdon’s staff survey triumph!
A key element of Langdon’s five year strategy is around staff engagement and wellbeing.
As part of this, Langdon commissioned an independent agency, Agenda Consulting to conduct a comprehensive survey of all staff in 2019. The results gave the charity the opportunity to work on a number of areas identified for improvement. Three years later, a second survey was conducted, asking the same questions as in 2019, so that results could be effectively compared. The results were overwhelmingly positive and showed significant improvement against 2019 in all areas surveyed. Most notably, 88% of staff surveyed would recommend Langdon as a good place to work. Highlights of the survey included the way staff felt trusted to do their jobs, their confidence in reporting and responding to safeguarding matters and believing their colleagues support Members’ wellbeing in a caring and meaningful way. In fact, the results were so positive, that this year, Langdon became an Agenda Employee Engagement Award winner!
Claire Rayner, Registered Manager in Manchester said “Langdon gave me the opportunity to progress my career in a sector of work I love. I joined Langdon as a Service Manager 3 years ago and I was given the support to do my job well. Two years later I felt I was ready for further progression and was successful in my application as Registered Manager. Langdon are a great support in terms of my continued professional development”.
Proud Members give their newly refurbished homes the thumbs up! With the generous support of the Leo Baeck Housing Association and KC Shasha Foundation, Langdon have embarked on an ambitious refurbishment programme in Manchester, to ensure Langdon Members feel pride in their homes and that they meet their needs, now and in the future. Members have been involved in the process, helping to choose paint colours and soft furnishings and so far the results have been phenomenal. Head of Manchester, Penny Toubkin said “It has a been a goal of ours to improve the quality of accommodation we provide for our Members for a while, but both the pandemic and lack of funding hampered our efforts. We are so grateful to the incredible generosity of the Leo Baeck Housing Association and KC Shasha Foundation for making our dreams a reality”. “It’s been wonderful to live through this experience with our Members who have been so excited throughout the process. They have been very brave with their colour choices, and the bright, sunny spaces really reflect their personalities”
Community Learning at College Programme
Last year we launched our very successful Community Learning at College programme, which is now entering its second year. The courses run for 11 weeks and are aimed at those currently living in Langdon community, many of whom are graduates of Langdon College, who want to further develop their skills and learning. Participants explore a range of subjects with lots of practical involvement where skills can be learnt or developed. Course content includes introduction to computing, cyber-safety, healthy eating and lifestyle, maintaining
healthy relationships and work readiness. Langdon College looks forward to welcoming a new cohort of learners later this year. Participant Elissa said “I really enjoyed the programme and loved the meditation classes and learning about bullying. I would love to go back if there was an opportunity to”.
