SVSV :: A NEW SYSTEM OF OBJECTS

A NEW SYSTEM OF OBJECTS

1

Serum Versus Venom (SVSV) was founded in 2003, as a long-term study into the interconnectedness of craft and utility, focused on the pursuit of creating a new luxury.

SVSV is rooted in the design philosophy of Futurecraft™, an ideological framework for creating high and sustainable value in an over-saturated consumer landscape by colliding new technologies with traditional craft philosophies, techniques and values.

CONSUMPTION IS SALVATION

ANTI MASS AGENDA We believe that no product mass produced, intended to be consumed by a mass market, should ever be considered rare or exclusive. Rarity and exclusivity should come from the scarcity of materials and the complexity of skills, craftsmanship and ultimately time spent in manufacturing.

Marketing, Image and Association are ultimately not elements of quality and thus should never be factors of value.

THE SVSV MISSION Our goal is to produce garments and objects of the highest quality that help our customers achieve a state of hyper-individuality.

PASSION & TRADITION SVSV is exclusively made in our own Brooklynbased studio & factory, aka Brooklyn Sewn.

No outside or unknown hand plays any part in our design or production.

We believe passion and obsession equal unsurpassed quality.

The following images represent an aesthetic dialogue between SVSV and KDU founder, David Gensler and L.A.-based KDU member, Victor Antonio.

CLOTHING AND OBJECTS REPRESENT ONLY ONE PART OF THE SVSV BRAND OFFERING. WE UNDERSTAND THAT OUR AUDIENCE WILL ULTIMATELY CONSUME MORE IMAGES OF OUR BRAND THAN OUR PRODUCTS. WITH THAT IN MIND WE TREAT THE ASSOCIATED ARTWORK AS AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT THAT HOLDS AS MUCH WEIGHT AS OUR GARMENTS, IF NOT MORE, IN THE MODERN AGE. OUR CURRENT EXPLORATION IS THE NEXT STEP IN OUR PURSUIT OF TRADITIONAL CRAFT COLLIDING WITH MODERNITY. THIS IS OUR ANALOG RESISTANCE AGAINST AN ALMOST COMPLETELY DIGITAL WORLD.

AS TRADITIONAL LUXURY WAS PULLED INTO THE DIGITAL AGE, THE IMAGE OF LUXURY REPLACED ITS REALITY. WE NEED TO RETURN TO REALITY. TO SPEAK OF CHANGE, YOU MUST FIRST EMBRACE IT. "Old systems of mass consumption have failed, lets abandon them now and progress. After searching the world for inspiration and innovation, we are finally at a point where we believe we can offer something that is better than our previous best." - David Gensler, Founder, SVSV

A CRITICAL NOTE TO ALL We are not a traditional wholesale company. We do not mass-produce goods for mass consumption. We craft exclusive garments, which are designed and manufactured in Brooklyn, New York. We do not adhere to a traditional seasonal calendar because the old way is no longer in sync with consumer behaviors and expectations. We develop exclusive products, on demand, for progressive, innovative retail partners that understand the speed of fashion in the digital age. Our goal is to work together to develop small capsules of original, exclusive designs that benefit all parties (customer, retailer, brand). Since we can develop product on demand in our own in-house factory, there is no need to adhere to conventions that are outdated and irrelevant.
