GREETINGS

FROM YOUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Hello Krakens! It’s officially summer! Even though the school year is over, your year in service isn’t. I strongly encourage everyone to continue volunteering in their communities. If you need any help with service projects please let me know! Thank you to everyone who came out the June DCM hosted by Federal Way High School, we raised money for the ELIMINATE Project and had an intense water balloon fight at Steel Lake Park. Needless to say, it was a pretty fun DCM. With that being said, I can’t wait to see you all at the next DCM on July 15th at the Outlet Collection. It’ll be an exciting DCM and you’ll be able to reconnect with the rest of the division. Officers, don’t forget that reports are still due throughout the summer. It may seem a bit strange, but there are still service projects available and the reports help to keep me informed! Additionally I would like to see everyone out at least one of the rallies nearby. Division 33 is lucky enough to be close to both Tacoma and Seattle Rally. There will be valuable training as well as fun workshops for you and your friends! See you soon! In love and Service,

Andrea Diep Division 33 Lieutenant Governor Pacific Northwest District Key Club International p: 253-202-6434 e: andreadiep.ltg33@gmail.com

R K-FAMILY

Why is the K-Family important to you?

Family is important to me as it shows how much dedication eople of all ages have when serving the community. It's mazing to see that everyone of all ages can come together just do service and serve with an amazing amount of energy and assion.

What’s your favorite memory from Circle K or ey Club?

My favorite memory thus far CKI or KC is when I attended the CKI eadership Academy in 2013. Key Clubbers can compare eadership academy to key leader. The reason why I consider this my favorite memory is the fact that I spend 6 days learning about myself, not CKI, but myself on what kind of a leader I am. Not only hat, I also got to know 60+ people who I still contact until this day. Leadership academy has been a life changing experience and I encourage you all to attend this event if you end up joining CKI. I can't spoil more details as this event is kept secret..

ords of wisdom for Key Clubbers?

d like to say thank you to Key Club for serving the community and joining this wonderful organization. If I had something to say, would be to just continue to serve the community with a burning passion. Although CKI may be different in terms of how we run hings, CKI still has the Key Club aspects in terms of service, eadership, and fellowship. I encourage all of you to give CKI a try and you truly won't regret what CKI can bring to you personally whether you connect on the club, district, or international level. 13

Youth O What is the YOF? The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. It uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. These grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world.

Why should you apply? Part of your dues go to the YOF. If you have an idea for a service project, but don’t have the funds, the YOF is here for you. Whether it’s an individual, or a club project. Keep in mind the deadline to apply is October 15th so plan ahead. Feel free to contact your LTG if you need help with applying!

Opportunities Fund NEED IDEAS? Key to Literacy Trenton High School Key Club Pool together the $500 awarded by YOF with $500 the club raised to purchase 544 inexpensive books through Scholastic Inc. Every school day, club members go to the elementary school, read to children in the classrooms and leave books behind as a donation. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney is one of the kids’ favorites.

Bringing Art and Children Closer North Crowley Key Club Spend the $450 YOF grant on art supplies to use at Barnes & Noble’s Saturday morning story times each week. North Crowley Key Clubbers read and led kids in a craft related to the story they heard. With the supplies they bought, the club hosted a citywide arts and crafts fair. Members also donated supplies to an urban elementary school with no art budget and sent craft donations to children living in Appalachia. 15

KEY CL The Pacific Northwest is geographically the largest district of Key Club International. The district spans from western Canada to northern California: with Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and the pan-handle of Idaho in between. The Pacific Northwest encompasses nearly 1.8 million square miles and includes over 300 clubs that operate under 45 divisions. Through rain or shine, snow or hail, Key Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest dedicate countless hours to their communities and internationally, and are always Proud 'N' Willing to serve!

Division 33

serves the Auburn and Federal Way community with 7 high schools. This includes, Auburn High School, Auburn Mountainview High School, Auburn Riverside High School, Decatur High School, Federal Way High School, Thomas Jefferson High School and Todd Beamer High School. Our division is known for our amazing spirit and large Korean population. Division 33 is represented by the Kraken and our colors are blue, gold and white. There’s never a dull moment when everyone in our division is together. Everyone is dedicated and always willing to serve the community no matter what.
