GREETINGS

FROM YOUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Hi Krakens! Welcome back! For seniors, we’re almost there. For everyone else, just enjoy everything while it lasts. I cannot wait to start doing club visits and I wish everyone the best of luck with their first meetings. Always remember to be inclusive because we want all of the new members to come and feel all of the Key Club love we have to give. I’d like to say that your Presidents are working extremely hard, we just had a very successful PCM to get the year going. I’m very excited to see them all reach their goals. Officers, I have been more relaxed about reports for the summer but with the school year starting up I expect 100% reports to come in on time. Failure to do so means that I, or the other divisional executives, would contact your club advisor. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next DCM at Decatur. It’ll be Division 33’s Got Talent! Everyone should bring a buddy and introduce them to Key Club and each school should be ready to bring an act!! See you soon! In love and Service,

Andrea Diep Division 33 Lieutenant Governor Pacific Northwest District Key Club International p: 253-202-6434 e: andreadiep.ltg33@gmail.com 5

Youth O What is the YOF? The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. It uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. These grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world.

Why should you apply? Part of your dues go to the YOF. If you have an idea for a service project, but don’t have the funds, the YOF is here for you. Whether it’s an individual, or a club project. Keep in mind the deadline to apply is October 15th so plan ahead. Feel free to contact your LTG if you need help with applying!

Opportunities Fund NEED IDEAS? Key to Literacy Trenton High School Key Club Pool together the $500 awarded by YOF with $500 the club raised to purchase 544 inexpensive books through Scholastic Inc. Every school day, club members go to the elementary school, read to children in the classrooms and leave books behind as a donation. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney is one of the kids’ favorites.

Bringing Art and Children Closer North Crowley Key Club Spend the $450 YOF grant on art supplies to use at Barnes & Noble’s Saturday morning story times each week. North Crowley Key Clubbers read and led kids in a craft related to the story they heard. With the supplies they bought, the club hosted a citywide arts and crafts fair. Members also donated supplies to an urban elementary school with no art budget and sent craft donations to children living in Appalachia. 15

KEY CL The Pacific Northwest is geographically the largest district of Key Club International. The district spans from western Canada to northern California: with Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and the pan-handle of Idaho in between. The Pacific Northwest encompasses nearly 1.8 million square miles and includes over 300 clubs that operate under 45 divisions. Through rain or shine, snow or hail, Key Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest dedicate countless hours to their communities and internationally, and are always Proud 'N' Willing to serve!

Division 33

serves the Auburn and Federal Way community with 7 high schools. This includes, Auburn High School, Auburn Mountainview High School, Auburn Riverside High School, Decatur High School, Federal Way High School, Thomas Jefferson High School and Todd Beamer High School. Our division is known for our amazing spirit and large Korean population. Division 33 is represented by the Kraken and our colors are blue, gold and white. There’s never a dull moment when everyone in our division is together. Everyone is dedicated and always willing to serve the community no matter what.
