SPEAKERs: Jose Luis Alcaine AEC expands his visual theory in Pedro Almodóvar’s ‘Strange Way Of Life’

The Spanish well-known director of photography José Luis Alcaine’s approach promotes the return to the depth of field abandoned during the last years.

The use of the deep focus involves the audience in the film, who, without being aware of it, participates choosing where to look.

The Spanish cinematographer began constructing this visual narrative in Almodovar’s last film ‘Parallel mothers’, and, with his mastery in the using of the technique, has achieved in this western, starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, the sublimation of his aesthetic theory.
