Around the Harkness table

At Lawrenceville, Harkness doesn’t happen just around the table. Our students roll up their sleeves, ask questions, collaborate, and solve problems. The intellectual inquiry cultivated in our Harkness classrooms manifests in molecular biology research in partnership with a lab at Stanford University, rocketry projects in the Gruss Center for Art and Design, and construction of a life-size canoe during an interdisciplinary study of Boat Building and Botany.

The Hutchins Institute for Social Justice is an academic hub advancing social justice through scholarship, programming, and experiential learning.

Lawrenceville’s Harkness Travel Program aims to promote the development of responsible leadership, global citizenship, selfawareness, and interdisciplinary knowledge in our student travelers. Whether through service, scientific research, cultural exchange, artistic performance, historical inquiry, or engagement with the natural world, Harkness Travel offers students the opportunity to develop their personal and global awareness.
