If you are ever hosting a local event and would like it to be promoted on our social media sites, please just send me an email at, sarah@thelink-directories.co.uk and we would be happy to promote this for you. To co-inside with our rebranding we are running a promotion over the next couple of months on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/TheLinkDirectories just give us a ‘like’ and you will be entered into our free prize draw for a family ticket for 4 to use at Cineworld, this could be useful with the Summer holidays on the horizon, see our advert on page 13. July 2013 Release’s Wednesday 3rd July THE INTERNSHIP Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brilliant college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation's most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of reinvention.

NOW YOU SEE ME Four magicians each answer a mysterious summons to an obscure address with secrets inside. A year later, they are the Four Horseman, big time stage illusionists who climax their sold out Las Vegas show with a bank apparently robbed for real. This puts agents Dylan Rhodes of the FBI and Alma Vargas of Interpol on the case to find out how they did it. However, this mystery proves difficult to solve even with the insights of the professional illusion exposer, Thaddeus Bradley. What follows is a bizarre investigation where nothing is what it seems with illusions, dark secrets and hidden agendas galore as all involved are reminded of a great truth in this puzzle: the closer you look, the less you see.

LOCAL GROUP HELPS GLOUCESTER PARENTS FIND FRIENDSHIP NCT Gloucester branch is holding a regular ‘Bumps and Babies’ group for new and expectant mums and dads, whether it’s their first, second or fifth baby! The group runs every Tuesday, 10:30 am to 12:00 at Salvation Army Hall, Gloucester and all parents are welcome you do not have to be an NCT member to join our Bumps and Babies group. Set up by parent charity NCT, Bumps and Babies groups provide relaxed and informal get-togethers, in community venues with enough room for buggies, babies and a close circle of parents. It is a great place for parents and parents-to-be to make new friends, share tips and chat with those going through the same things. Tina Gibbs, NCT Gloucester Branch Coordinator said: “Having a baby is an amazing experience but it can also be quite isolating. Coming to this group gives you a reason to get out of the house and socialise with people in your local area who can understand what you’re going through. We’re open to everybody and are always looking for new mums and dads to join.” The branch offers a range of services and activities for local parents including Antenatal Classes in Gloucester, Quedgeley and Churchdown. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN TUFFLEY By COUNCILLOR COLIN ORGAN

23

By the time this article reaches you the Robinswood Hill Funfest will be over and the final sculpture placed on the hill with the others. I will forward photographs and comments about the event in a later publication. As I write all of the hard work, months of planning and organising has been done by numerous groups – all volunteers to the cause and we await the weekend hoping for decent weather, thank you sincerely to everyone that has been involved, my special thanks go to One Church for their hundreds of volunteers and dedicated organisers, Gloucester City Homes and Gloucester City Council for their management skills, staff commitment and the Rangers support, the Friends of Robinswood Hill for their quiet behind the scenes dedication to this event which has the hill at the heart of its existence. Tuffley Court Community Centre (St. Michaels Church) is to undergo a cosmetic external makeover by volunteers as part of a tidy up day. I felt the building and surrounds were looking rather tired and needed an uplift and a new notice board. I have spoken to the various shops and businesses opposite and they are delighted, as is the dedicated leader who holds everything together on a very tight budget. Once again, thank you all volunteers for your support. Our ward is a superb example where people just get up and do things and don’t just wait for things to happen, you make it happen!! Thank you for all those residents who attended the church hall on 17th June. Regarding our future as a city and ward – it was an interesting event. I am now looking forward to two new projects which are the refurbishment of the water feature around Tuffley primary school which I have organised to be completed by a group of volunteers from a major institution and local residents. The makeover of the Tuffley Community Centre is next, similar to the one we completed at Winget Sports and Social Club recently. Residents have told me what they would like to see and I am keeping my promise to raise the profile of the area where I can but I do need residents support in keeping the ward as clean and tidy as possible. A new residents association has been formed in conjunction with Gloucester City Homes and the residents of Robert Raikes area, their first meeting was held on Thursday 27th June, a new committee constitution was created. I am delighted that this new group has been formed and we will be watching its progress with interest and supporting where we can. A reminder of city events to look forward to: 15th-21st July – The Big Eat Week 19th-21st July – The Food Festival 27th July-4th August – The Blues Festival 27th July-3rd August – Three Choirs Festival 27th July – Gloucester Carnival and Procession 3rd August – Fireworks at The Park 31st August – Rowing Club Regatta 7th September – Gloucester Day Parade 12th-15th September – Heritage Open Days Have a great summer Please mention
