Days of Yore: The Linwood Hotel

The Linwood Hotel was established in about 1888 by John B. Pullis. Located on the southeast corner of South Clinton Avenue and Linden Place, it was one of several South Shore LI destination hotels where travelers flocked to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Namesake of the hotel, The Linwood Restaurant & Cocktails pays tribute to Bay Shore’s history. Well known for its exceptional food and deliciously crafted cocktails, The Linwood is also praised for its warm and friendly staff. Reminiscent of a luxury hotel, the interior is as comfortable as it is beautiful with plush velvet seating and crystal chandeliers. “We’ve taken that same 'boutique hotel' approach and applied it to the restaurant business,” stated Linwood Restaurant owner Greg Mogil, “where the highest level of service is provided without being pretentious or too expensive, and readily available to all our guests.”
