2015 MARKETING UPDATE Google Display Network The Sotheby’s International Realty brand expands its reach through the Google Display Network Building on years of success through Google’s AdWords campaigns, the Sotheby’s International Realty brand’s new display strategy includes extensive placements on some of the world’s top websites, as well as an effective strategy for returning users back to sir.com. The Google Display Network (GDN) is a collection of millions of websites which offer us the opportunity to purchase ad space. These include the following internationally renowned sites… • Vogue • CNN • NASDAQ • Forbes • …and can also incorporate local news sites and blogs. All in all, the GDN reaches 90% of Internet users worldwide. Through recent experimentation and testing, we’ve implemented a new dual-campaign strategy to maximize of Display placements on the Google Display Network: • In-Market Audiences – This ‘learning’ targeting system allows us to reach users actively interested in luxury real estate. This is done as Google anonymously tracks where each user goes while browsing online, using their browsing history to serve our ads based on their overall interest. • Example: A user performs a high-end search on zillow, visits one of our competitor’s websites, browses luxury homes on the New York Times Great Homes and Destinations section, and then shares some luxury lifestyle blog posts on Google+. That users is then added to the similar interest group on the GDN, which allows the brand to serve ads directly to them when they visit a GDN website. • Re-Marketing – When a user visits sir.com, their browser (if enabled) is ‘cookied,’ allowing us to then serve a specific advertisement across multiple GDN websites, reminding users to come back to sir.com to complete their real estate search. • Example: User visits sir.com as normal. Several days after, the user visit Reuters and our ads show up as the user is browsing, as well as on multiple other sites while browsing.
