Research has also show that loneliness is as big a killer as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, and leads to obesity and higher rates of dementia. However, there are signs of a change. The government’s proposed ‘levelling up’ legislation includes a duty on all councils to produce local plans for toilet provision and a National Toilet Plan is on the cards. Locally TMBC has agreed to reopen toilets it closed in Leybourne Lakes Country Park car park. In West Malling the Borough Council has finally agreed to discuss the Parish Council’s proposal for a new toilet location in the High Street car park which the Borough own. Funding will need to be found from grants or developers, but that’s a very welcome step forward.
Happily the penny seems to have dropped.
