As well as its breathtaking natural beauty, Test Valley outstanding gardens which are all unique, and well worth a visit.

Whether you are a keen, green-fingered gardener, someone who admires and enjoys the beauty of blooms, or are perhaps simply looking for somewhere stunning to walk – the gardens are waiting to be discovered, no matter the season. They offer plenty of wide open spaces, minimal crowds, and wholesome fresh air.

Take a picnic and enjoy lunch in the great outdoors amongst the gorgeous settings, the perfect mix of playing and relaxing. If you don’t have time to make a picnic most of the gardens also have delicious cafes.

Visit the famous walled rose garden at National Trust property, Mottisfont Abbey, which includes more than 500 varieties of stunning roses. The picturesque grounds have much to excite visitors all year round, along with a jampacked programme of events and exhibitions.

Sir Harold Hillier Gardens offers 180 acres of open space and 42,000 plants from around the world. The award winning gardens specialises in horticulture, conservation, education and recreation. If you’re visiting with children, they’ll love climbing the tree house, crossing the wobbly bridge, and weaving through the bamboo tunnels.

The history of the site of King John’s House’s gardens can be traced back to the late 1530s where it has been transformed into a series of beautiful gardens by a group of dedicated volunteers to provide a welcoming oasis in the middle of Romsey. Pre-18th-Century plants flourish in the main garden, along with a Victorian terrace and a fountain courtyard.
