ADVANCED ELECTROLYTE TECHNOLOGIES BECOMES SUBSIDIARY OF UBE INDUSTRIES Ube Industries announced that it is has made Advanced Electrolyte Technologies into a subsidiary, in order to further strengthen its marketing of electrolytes for lithiumion rechargeable batteries (LIBs). The market for LIBs is growing, centering on applications for mobile phones, tablets and other portable consumer devices. In recent years, LIBs have begun to be used for automotive applications such as in hybrid and electric vehicles. Future applications include for energy storage systems and industrial applications, with demand for LIBs projected to grow. Advanced Electrolyte Technologies was established in December 2011 by Ube Industries and The Dow Chemical Company,
each with a 50% stake in the company. The company established a U.S. subsidiary, Advanced Electrolyte Technologies (USA), in December 2011 and a Chinese subsidiary, AET Electrolyte Technologies (Zhangjiagang) in June 2012, each for the manufacturing and marketing of electrolytes. These steps form part of the company''s efforts to build a global manufacturing and marketing framework for electrolytes. Ube Industries first brought functional electrolytes to market in 1997, leveraging its own organic synthesis technology and electrochemical expertise to improve battery performance by combining high-purity electrolytes with additives. Since then, Ube Industries has continued to expand its product lineup based on this concept. These functional electrolytes have played a critical role in enhancing the performance of LIBs and expanding the applications for them in the last few years. The move by Ube Industries to make Advanced Electrolyte Technologies a subsidiary further ties together the management of the battery materials business of both companies, as they seek to further expand the business. Mainly in the field of the Lithium Ion Battery whose demand is expected to grow, Ube Industries will promote the further sales expansion and the cost reduction by the synergy between R&D, production, and sales.

CHEMICAL MACHINERY ARTICLE TRUCLEAN WATER SERVICE IN THE EAGLE FORD SHALE REGION
I
nnospec, Inc is pleased to announce that its Independence Oilfield Chemicals (IOC) business has completed the first successful application of its innovative TruClean™ Water Service in the Eagle Ford Shale Region, resulting in substantial cost savings when compared to conventional treatments. This service is particularly vital when oil and gas prices are low, and production costs are under extreme scrutiny. As part of a pre-treatment project for a client seeking a more costeffective, safer alternative to the industry standard, this first treatment in a frac application consisted of a custom designed delivery system that provides improved performance throughout the frac job. This service does not require onsite chemical reaction, nor does it interfere with frac fluid performance. "We are delighted to confirm that our advanced technology, with significant advantages over other water treatment systems, worked so well in the Eagle Ford Shale Region," said Butch Gothard, IOC's Senior Vice President. "The results speak for themselves. When compared to conventional treatments, our TruClean Water Service not only resulted in an improved overall treatment, but delivered to the operator approximately 60 percent in cost savings." In the oil and gas industry, effective water-management is critical. On average, a shale well 20
requires approximately six million gallons of water to drill and complete, highlighting the need for cost-effective frac water treatment alternatives; alternatives that not only help remove contaminants naturally found in waters, but can also remediate produced waters. Jeff Hibbeler, President of IOC, said, "This technology serves as one more example of IOC's commitment to our "production view" of stimulation. It's a methodology that promotes an early focus on long-term production through continuous improvement, resulting in cost savings for our clients everywhere." Patrick S Williams, President & CEO of Innospec, said, "I'm delighted to see IOC's technology delivering benefits to both the customer and to Innospec. We are very pleased that our latest acquisition is off to a flying start, using innovative and customer service to such great effect." Innospec Inc is an international specialty chemicals company with approximately 1300 employees in 20 countries. Innospec manufactures and supplies a wide range of specialty chemicals to markets in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and AsiaPacific. The Fuel Specialties business specializes in manufacturing and supplying the fuel additives that help improve fuel efficiency, boost engine performance and reduce harmful emissions. This business also contains Oilfield Specialties which
provides specialty chemicals for oil & gas drilling and production operations. Innospec's Performance Chemicals business provides effective technology-based solutions for our customers' processes or products focused in the Personal Care; Polymers; and Fragrance Ingredients markets. Innospec's Octane Additives business is the world's only producer of tetra ethyl lead. Independence Oilfield Chemicals was founded by a group of globally recognized stimulation, production and cementing experts, and designs, formulates, and manufactures a complete line of completion and production chemicals. Collectively, the management team possesses over 300 years' experience in oilfield chemistry, with many individuals having gained their knowledge and skills from major service companies. Headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas-which is also home to the company's main Technology Center-Independence Oilfield Chemicals maintains operational facilities adjacent to most major North American oil and gas producing regions. Independence was acquired by Innospec at the end of October 2014. TRANSCO INTERSTATE GAS PIPELINE TO MEET DEMAND DRIVEN BY COLD WEATHER : Williams announced today that it delivered a record amount of natural gas on its Transco interstate gas pipeline to meet CHEMICAL BUSINESS WEEKLY
CHEMICAL MACHINERY ARTICLE demand driven by recent cold weather in markets on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard. Two recently completed expansions of Transco, totaling 315,000 dekatherms per day (dth/d) of natural gas transportation capacity, contributed to the volume record in early January. The nation's largest-volume natural gas transmission system, Transco delivered a record-breaking 12.6 million dekatherms (MMdt) on Jan. 7 for its Zones 4-6 market area stretching from Mississippi to New York City. The new peak-day mark surpasses the previous high of 11.9 MMdt set on Jan. 7, 2014. Transco also set a three-day market area delivery record Jan. 79, averaging 12.2 MMdt. The Jan. 7, 2015 record volume represents enough gas to heat about 50 million U.S. homes. In addition this year, total peakday deliveries across the entire Transco system stretching from South Texas to New York City totaled 13.4 MMdt on Jan. 7. Williams expects deliveries to increase substantially in the coming years as additional planned Transco projects go into service. “We fully expected to hit another record this year because natural gas demand for home heating and power generation continues to grow in new markets,” said Frank Ferazzi, vice president & general manager of Williams' Transco pipeline. “In anticipation of this steady demand growth, we are continually expanding our Transco system to serve the fastest growing markets in the country in the CHEMICAL BUSINESS WEEKLY
Northeast and along the Eastern Seaboard.” On Dec. 1, 2014, portions of two Transco expansions were placed into service, contributing to this year's record. The projects included modifications to Transco's mainline as part of the Virginia Southside Expansion (250,000 dth/d) and a portion of the Northeast Connector (65,000 dth/d). Since 2003, the company has placed into service 22 Transco growth projects, which have increased the system capacity by 3.5 Bcf/d or about 53 percent. To meet future demand for firm natural gas transportation capacity, Williams has previously announced approximately $4.4 billion of Transco growth projects that are expected to be placed into service between 2015 and 2017. The expansions, which consist of 12 projects in seven eastern states, are designed to serve customers' demand for power generation, industries and local distribution. The Transco pipeline is a 10,200-mile pipeline system that transports natural gas to markets throughout the northeastern and southeastern United States. Transco is a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams Partners LP, of which Williams owns controlling interests and is the general partner. Headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., Williams is one of the leading energy infrastructure companies in North America. It owns controlling interests in both Williams Partners L.P. and Access Midstream Partners, L.P. through its 100percent ownership of the general
partner of each partnership. Additionally, Williams owns approximately 66 percent and 50 percent of the limited partner units of Williams Partners L.P. and Access Midstream Partners, L.P., respectively. Williams Partners owns and operates both on-shore and offshore assets of approximately 15,000 miles of natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines, 1,800 miles of NGL transportation pipelines, an additional 11,000 miles of oil and gas gathering pipelines and numerous other energy infrastructure assets. Williams Partners' operated facilities have daily gas gathering capacity of approximately 11 billion cubic feet, processing capacity of approximately 7 billion cubic feet, NGL production of more than 400,000 barrels per day and domestic olefins production capacity of 1.95 billion pounds of ethylene and 90 million pounds of propylene per year. Access Midstream Partners owns and operates natural gas midstream assets across nine states, with an average net throughput of approximately 4.13 billion cubic feet per day and more than 6,773 miles of natural gas gathering pipelines. ACMP's operations are focused on the Barnett, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Marcellus, Niobrara and Utica Shales and the Mid-Continent region of the US.
