rgentina officially the Argentine Republic and federal republic located in the southeastern South America has fully opened its $6-billion drug market to Indian companies. This epoch making move has increased the scope of exports of complete pharmaceutical products beginning from raw materials to finished pharmaceuticals formulations. India was not allowed to do so earlier due to local laws. Argentina is a federal constitutional republic and representative democracy. The government is regulated by a system of checks and balances defined by the Constitution of Argentina, the country's supreme legal document. Argentina is bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north; Brazil to the northeast; Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east; Chile to the west and the Drake Passage to the south. It is the eighth-largest country in the world, the second largest in Latin America, and the largest Spanishspeaking one. Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. PV Appaji, director general of Indian Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council, said that with effect from August 8, the Latin American nation has included India on the list of countries that can supply medicines to it. Argentina's pharmaceuticals market is expected to touch $15 billion by 2020. Eight key markets of the Latin American region are now valued at over $30 billion, reporting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 10%. Every year, India exports drugs worth around $15 billion to markets across the world. Of this, nearly 8 per cent goes to Latin American countries. In 2012-13, India sold $44.85 million worth of bulk drugs to Argentina. Now our companies can supply generic drugs at nearly half the price of Argentina's locally made drugs, enabling the Latin American country procure quality drugs at affordable costs. The marvelous move will help Indian drug companies access one of the largest pharmaceutical markets in the Latin American region. In 2012 manufacturing was the largest single sector in the nation's economy, with more than 20% of GDP. Wellintegrated into Argentine agriculture, half of the industrial exports have rural origin. With a 6.5% production growth rate in 2011, the diversified manufacturing sector is organized around a steadily growing network of industrial parks (314 as of 2013). Argentina's pharmaceuticals market is forecast to grow from a value of around US$5.6 billion in 2012 to $15 billion

by 2020. This fast growth will be driven by a strong presence of domestic manufacturers, high-quality production capabilities and favourable clinical trial regulations. Domestic manufacturers currently account for over 50% of the Argentine drugs market, and key players here include Roemmers and Bago, while multinationals such as Bayer, Novartis, Roche, Abbott and GlaxoSmithKline also operate in the country. The domestic pharmaceutical production has always dominated for several decades in Argentina. Local players are provided with government benefits such as favourable tariff protection, while the costs of raw materials imports historically undercut the transfer pricing which is generally applicable for multinationals, thus giving domestic players a competitive advantage in their home market. Moreover, the generic drug sector in Argentina has grown, their sales having increased as a result of legislation included in the Health Emergency Act; this mandates that physicians must include the generic names of prescribed drug products, which allows for generic substitution by pharmacists. The country has become a signatory to the World Trade Organisation (WTO)'s Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs) agreement and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). But the country is also regarded as a favourable destination for cost-effective clinical trials within Latin America, and was one of the first nations in the region to implement the recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Control standards, endorsing compliance to an international set of quality standards for pharmaceutical production. Clinical trial standards in the country are also similar to those of the International Conference on Harmonisation- Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP). The recent development will especially boost exports of Indian companies that have globally approved manufacturing facilities. However, it would be prudent for Indian companies to exercise caution and wait for the kind of regulations Argentina will come out with and the time it would consume for product registrations. At present, it takes 24-30 months in Mexico and 4-7 years in Brazil for product registrations and approvals. Several leading Indian pharmaceutical companies, which exports medicines to Brazil, Mexico and Columbia in the Latin American region, consider Argentina as an important market.

products. About 85% of all aluminium foil produced is used in some form of packaging. Aluminium foil has a highly reflective side and a more matte side. This is due to a common manufacturing process. As the foil is easy to tear, it is sent through machines in pairs. The side where the foil comes in contact with the other sheet is more matte than the other side. BENEFITS OF ALUMINIUM FOIL AS A PACKAGING MATERIAL * Excellent impermeability to water vapor and gases. * Extends shelf life. * Uses less storage space. * Generates less waste than many other packaging materials. * Used as the barrier component in flexible cans. * Acts as a barrier to oxygen, light, and odor. * Nontoxic and hygienic. * Greaseproof and non-absorptive to liquids. Since foil is a good barrier to this radiation, resisting loss in flavor and appearance, and showing development of rancidity and staleness, it is widely used in storing food items. The aluminium packaging foil can be coated for protection, decoration, or heat sealing. APPLICATIONS OF ALUMINIUM FOIL IN PACKAGING : Aluminium foil is used for pharmaceutical blister packages. It is used in the aseptic drink box. Being suited for packaging medicinal oils, it is used for packing ointments, grease-base cosmetics. As an

Nowadays, non-heat treatable alloys of aluminium-manganese or aluminium-magnesium are also used for higher strength. With both pure aluminium and alloys, there are different mechanical properties available in sheets and coils through varying degrees of work hardening. MAKING OF ALUMINIUM SHEET : To make sheet, first of all sheet ingots are formed out of aluminum which are of different weights.
