BUILD THEIR FUTURE
EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE The McDonald Foundation plays an important role in the life of The McDonald College and the wider community. As our central fundraising arm, the Foundation was established to provide broad-ranging financial support to our College and students by providing ongoing funding for capital works and scholarships. The need for a school such as The McDonald College is widely acknowledged and the outstanding successes gained by our students, past and present, is a matter of record. While we applaud and strive for individual success, the responsibility and importance of creating a community that understands, appreciates, and supports performance has a profound and far-reaching effect on our society. Our students go on to become performing arts ambassadors throughout their lives, regardless of the careers and industries that they may find themselves in later on. In many ways the Foundation is the supporting framework through which they work, as it encourages young talent through the provision of lifechanging scholarship opportunities and building the infrastructure that supports performance. I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to support our Foundation and help us realise our ambitions and goals. There are several options of support and involvement, all of which are appreciated on even the smallest scale. If you have any questions about donating to The McDonald Foundation please feel free to contact us on (02) 9752 0500.

FO R THE FUTUR E The McDonald Foundation's primary objective is to promote academic and performance education by advancing, promoting and encouraging the educational purpose of The McDonald College. The Foundation believes that students passionate about pursuing their performance aspirations should have the opportunity to develop their talents to the fullest. The McDonald College is committed to providing a nurturing learning environment for current and future generations of students to ensure this outcome. The work of the Foundation includes the provision of financial assistance in a number of areas: SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Foundation acknowledges and encourages student achievements and success through the sponsorship of the Ann McDonald Scholarship Awards, academic & performing arts scholarships, and tennis scholarships. Looking to the future, the Foundation hopes to create scholarships opportunities for Indigenous and regionally-based students. It is important for us to increase the diversity of our cohort whilst giving opportunities to students who may not be able to access schooling based on their location and/or circumstances. BUILDING & RESOURCES FUND This fund is dedicated to ongoing building renovations, upgrades and developments, inclusive of technology upgrades. CREATING PARTNERSHIPS FUND In recent years we have partnered with Voyager Tennis Academy and Sydney Dance Company to enhance our elite training offerings. Foundation funding allows us to grow our premium partnership opportunities and enhance our point of difference. THE McDONALD FOUNDATION CULTURAL TRUST FUND The McDonald Foundation is the Trustee of the Cultural Trust that is on the Register of Cultural Organisations (ROCO). The Cultural Trust has been instrumental in the growth of our Premier State Ballet Company, which provides young dancers with the opportunity to perform in a full-length, main stage production every year. The Trust hopes to follow suit with a Musical Theatre Company in the future, which will offer young performers the opportunity to perform in a full-length production at a leading venue.

S TAT E B A L L E T C O M PA N Y The McDonald Foundation Cultural Trust Fund For nearly 30 years, The McDonald College has run a pre-professional youth ballet company called Premier State Ballet. It provides a unique opportunity for students aged 12-18 to be part of a ballet ensemble which presents a full-length, main stage production at Riverside Theatre every year. It is by audition and it is open to students from The McDonald College, The McDonald College After Hours, and the general public. PSB has launched the careers for many dancers performing professionally around the world, including Robert Curran (Former Principal Artist, The Australian Ballet, ex-Director at Louisville Ballet), Damian Smith (Former Soloist, San Francisco Ballet), Lachlan Monaghan (Birmingham Ballet), Amanda McGuigan (The Australian Ballet), and Harrison Lee (Royal Ballet). Donating to PSB ensures that we continue to create opportunities for young dancers to be part of a thriving pre-professional ballet company.
