A Message from the President:
Gifts come in large, medium or small packages – they are gifts anyway. Many of us have heard the saying, “it’s not the gift that is important but the thought that counts.” I beg to differ. If the thought is there but was never expressed, it is left only a thought. It is in expressing the thought however, that reveals the true character of selfless love. For instance, if God’s thought was not expressed in selfless love for humanity in sending Jesus, we would never have experienced love, forgiveness of sin or hope of eternal life. Gifts are important! What if God did not give the gift of women to the world what would the world be like? Who would be wife to a man? Who would procreate and give life to generations? Who would rock sick or hurting children on their knees? Who would carry the burden of homemaking? Who would cry with those who are hurting or comfort those who are sad? Who would patiently endure hardship yet hoping for change? Who would boost the economy? Who would fill the churches and who would be my “sista friend.” Yes, a woman is a ‘small’ gift wrapped in a large package. She is often misunderstood, overlooked and unappreciated. Yet, without this gift the world would be at a loss. She has her place, she has purpose and she has rights. She is strong, & intelligent, she is the mother, the aunt and the grandmother. She is the nurse, she is the administrator, the lawyer, the executive, she is the astronaut, the doctor, the homemaker, the pastor, the sister and the friend. She takes on tasks that are too big for her, but is never afraid of menial chores. She cries when she is hurt; she laughs when she is happy. She prays all the more in times of limitations and uncertainties, she rebounds in strength and renewed confidence to face another day. Yes Indeed! Woman is a gift…a gift to the world.
Dr. Helga Clarke
Mission Statement
Daughters of Destiny International is a Christian-based organization, whose vision is to provide a supportive society to help women of all ages, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds find and fulfill their rightful purpose. The main focus is centered on mentoring, teaching and producing leaders and role models. We are therefore committed to raising the standard for women to mature in the things of God. We aim to help women identify and use their gifts, talents and abilities and to develop inner strength and confidence, thus impacting the quality of life in their communities.
DODI Mother Daughter Pageant The Mother Daughter Pageant aims to promote unity and self esteem amongst women by building a strong relationship between girls and their mothers. We hope to shape positive attitudes and behavior in our children—our leaders of tomorrow. Each year, Mothers can enroll their daughters in a series of workshop courses that are offered by DODI and are geared towards teaching on topics such as self esteem, self confidence, public speaking, integrity, etiquettes, service, grace, elegance, health, fitness and nutrition, skin care, hair care, academics, and fulfilling life’s purpose. The workshop participants, ages 6 through 18, will have the opportunity to showcase their beauty, interest and talents by registering as a candidate for the annual Mother Daughter Pageant competition. We cannot think of a better way to showcase the beauty, intellect and talent of our young women than through our Mother Daughter Pageant. We aim to assist our young girls and ladies into becoming America’s best and brightest young leaders and role model in their community. Do not miss this unique opportunity to shape a child’s life through mentorship with young girls who dream big!
