Welcome to The Met
Ged Kelly, Director of The Met, introduces our Autumn season
W
e are delighted to introduce another exciting season that offers the variety and quality of artists and events you have come to expect as we strive to meet your needs. Our events are increasingly becoming a regular fixture in our audience’s diaries. Live music includes The Animals, Jacqueline Dankworth, Sax Appeal, Radio 2 Newcomer Nominees John Spiers and Jon Boden, the Battlefield Band and the formidable folk partnership of Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy. We are also pleased to bring you, the UK's best Bhangra band K B and the Gang. We have moved this year’s Bury Louisiana Festival to the half term week in October so that more of you will be able to come and enjoy the entire weekend. The Festival offers a mix of Louisiana folk, Cajun, Zydeco, jazz and blues, that anyone who witnessed last year’s event will tell you make it an unique and exhilarating music festival. One of last season’s high points was undoubtedly the wonderful musical retelling of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Mike Maran. Mike returns with his special style of theatre in November in Private Angelo. The season also features ITN newscaster, John Suchet combining words with music in Beethoven, gripping solo shows from George Dillon, and powerful Greek drama from the Actors of Dionysus. We are eagerly anticipating Peter Pan in December. After the success of Scrooge last year, we have invited Rocian Production Company back to transform our theatre for another magical adventure. With Peter Pan in our theatre throughout December we are moving across the square to the Castle Armoury to present two evenings of Christmas music in true Met style. Look to King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys and The Albion Band in December for perfect festive musical events to add to your seasonal calendar. Enjoy our brochure - we look forward to seeing you at The Met.
